Maybe is because of the freedom, the action and the cars? I haven't played it yet (I need to complete some games before starting this game), but I have it on Steam and I do enjoy those types of games (sandboxes) —LOL, I bought it the past July with all the DLCs... (:P)—

My brother also has it and currently he's playing it and really enjoying it. And the little I have seen, it looks excellent... :)

Just loved the open environment and how the story and characters took almost nothing serious (or they did take something serious but that only lasted for all of 5 seconds before something bizarre happens). Also with several different ways you can play the game (combat, character type each with unique dialogue, and the customization).

It was a lot of fun to play.
I liked both GTA IV and Saint's Row the Third. Saint's Row for just being fun to fuck around with and blow shit up and customize fast cars and customize the character. Later in the game, you can take out a whole gang holding a territory in one shot with the VTOL, brutes included.

I can appreciate some witty and satirical banter like there is in GTA IV, but it gets on my nerves sometimes to. I liked that Saint's Row the Third didn't have too much witty or political crap in it. For example, SV probably won't like me for saying this, but Veronica in Fallout: New Vegas really annoys the shit out of me. I was quite satisfied pissing her off in her missions and then popping her melon from far away atop a hill with an anti-material rifle.
Everything. It's one of my top games for the year 2011. It was crazy, zany, the weapons are nutty like the airstrike gun, you have the VTOL, the Apocal-fist where you can punch someone and he explodes, Reaper Drone is fun fun fun, the campaign is quite long, multiple story paths (surprising for a game like this), I flying jump into cars and kick the driver out as compared to other games where you have open the car door, Bonnie Tyler's "I need a hero" is used during one of the dramatic missions. Side missions are all crazy and fun, especially Professor Genki's gameshow missions.

Also this, Ashly from HAWP (Tiny Tina from Borderlands 2) explains why and pretty much nails it:

Miaghstir: I like Saints Row the Third because I felt it was "more of the same" from GTA: Vice City (which is my favourite GTA so far).
^This, same here, VC is my favourite.

Yeah, so it really just boils down to the people who like enjoying the crazy running around explosions stuff, which is not why I liked GTA. I figured that but wanted to make sure there was nothing I was missing.

Thanks all.
