Yeah, at least reading through the first few pages of people posting I didn't expect so many people to joke about it or dodge the question.

Not really sure if they just don't have a definitive answer to what the OP brought up, or if they're simply insecure about the possibility of something like this, potentially, being a reality years down the line. We've already seen robots which can deal with basic cognitive functions like reacting to being touched, knocked over, or acknowledging someone's voice (which you can find Youtube videos of). It's only a matter of time before all of the brilliant scientists out there keep pushing forward this kind of technology finding new ways to simulate human (or sentient) behavior in AI programming.

Hell yes.

I'm still not entirely sold. One reason that I was attracted to my girlfriend is that I find her an interesting person, which is a result of having her lead a varied life with a fuck of a lot more ups and downs than I am used to (there's obviously a lot more to it than that, but that's the gist of it). I'm not going to sit here and 100% rule out the possibility that an android in the future couldn't become interesting, either by experience or by some ridiculously complication emulation, but call me skeptical.

Only if they were like in Blade Runner. After all, they do have a short lifespan.
