SirPrimalform: But there's no earth pin in a 2 slot socket! Think of the children, won't somebody please think of the children! D; D; D; D; D; D; D; D; D;

Titanium: There are two in the "schuko".
Children have it too easy these days.
And the modern Danish one looks like a smiley face. How cute!

PoSSeSSeDCoW: I honestly think you have a script that autoreplies to anything mobile related with an off topic response.

KingofGnG: Uhm, the OP was talking about an Apple iPod, so the one who use scripts it's you. And it doesn't work so well :-P
OP was talking about how Apple gave him good customer support. You respond with, yeah, they suck.

How is that not completely devoid of any relevance to the topic?

SimonG: That is (or was ten years ago) actually quite usual for apple, that they replace a broken product with the next gen product if warranty issues arise. They don't have a "backstock" of old products to fall back onto.

My old computer science teacher was considering to "overcharge" our classroom iMacs at the end of their warranty to get new replacements ;-).
That's so wrong of him.

I find it funny how people get all up in arms when companies are trashy or act unethically, but of course, they themselves act the same exact way. So what do you expect? People want companies to be more ethical than they are themselves... hypocrites.

I think it's rather that people are shocked when a company is LESS ethical than they are themselves. We all do stuff that is less ethical at times, but to find a huge company can do it right in the open and rub our faces in it, is what tends to piss people off big time.

Let's take a look at Apple's "achievements":

- barely anything portable they make has an exchangeable battery because they want you to buy original Apple batteries (which are 5-10 times more expensive than they should be)

- they never give support for SD cards in their products because then you wouldn't pay a premium for the 32GB models. Nearly every other brand allows SD cards to let you quickly swap data - not Apple

- they avoid using ANY standard ports requiring you to buy their extremely expensive cables for even the most basic of things.

- Microsoft got fined by the EU for doing stuff that Apple does to far greater extents - Microsoft can't even bundle their Internet Explorer anymore while Apple stuffs all sorts of apps inside Mac OS X and can do it without anyone saying a word. Add to this that the OS is for Apple hardware only, and it's obvious that something smells rotten here.

Oh, I could write a list as long as my arm but, suffice to say, Apple has done and is doing some pretty horrible stuff - from having sweat shop factories in China to suing companies left and right to scamming you on part prices to locking down their devices to have absolute control, to ... well you get the idea. Apple easily sits in number 1 for the most selfish and "custom-screwing-over" company in the IT business. I know many companies but none are anywhere near as bad as Apple.

He was making a joke ( I thought the smiley would have given that away)... Don't you think Apple wouldn't be at least a little suspicious if 30 iMacs suddently stopped working at the same time? He was an avid Apple fanboy and the reason we had macs in the first place.

Sorry I'm on my high moral horse today. =)
If you're looking for good headphones there's a chinese company on Ebay that sells 'em for $10 CND (shipping included) and my skullcandy has lasted me 4 yrs while using them to DJ. They work well to block out the sound of people on bus/metro.
