Best: Dishonored. I was hoping it would be good, but it turned out to be even better.

Worst: Inquisitor. It just sucks on so many levels.

Hawk52: I take offense with this quite a bit. The idea that a consumer should go in ignorant to a game is completely asinine. Let's Plays and videos of gaming help you make educated decisions. You get to find out what a game is before you purchase it, making a wise investment. That's like saying you shouldn't read movie reviews before looking into movies, or read consumer reviews of products before purchasing. Everything is an "experience" unique to the individual; but I'm sure not going to throw $59.99 around on a "Ooo, the trailer looks cool with it's live action sequences!" whim.
I don't read movie reviews until after I watched a movie. I read recommendations, like with games. I ask here, "how is the game". If people I trust here say go for it, I go for it. By looking up stuff about a game you lose a big share of the fun in experiencing it.

You might stumble upon the occasional turd, but that is nothing in comparison to the complete added fun you have in experiencing the rest.
It seems that a lot of people have Diablo III on their worst list. The game is still alive though. I wonder if it is simply a question of expectations blown out of proportation. That's certainly the case with me and The Witcher 2. I loved the first one and wanted another great game like that and when I didn't get it I was disappointed. Objectively, it's a decent enough game...it simply wasn't what I hoped it would be. Perhaps the same is true for all those hating on Diablo III.

SimonG: Of course. Do you see my opinion about the menstruational cycle? Or about Justien Biber concerts? Or about any movie I haven't seen? No, because I can't have an in-depth opinion about something I haven't experienced it. You can say "It's not my kinda game" or "I don't play shooters". But having a discussion about a game you haven't experienced? Yeah, that is pretty pretentious.

And if you are interested in a game, you do not research about it. You play it. Because that is what an experience is about. You don't look up all the tricks before you go to a magic show. A videogame is a tailored experience that is build around you not knowing what is happening around the corner. Same with books. "Never let me go" is so great because the unknown dread is felt with every page it progresses, but if you know it from the start, you don't have half the experience you have when you see how the writing is doing its magic.

Let's play videos are the worst thing that has happened to gaming in recent years.
Heh, well, I can see your point, but naturally one can still form an opinion (even an untrue one) by what one hears. (The menstrual cycle doesn't seem like the best example. :P) I figured since you had played the game, and were far more informed than me, you could answer some of my questions or concerns. (Plus, as I said, I won't be playing it for quite some time, until I get a new machine.)

I guess this will basically end more or less on "agree to disagree" terms.

This makes sense to me. I rarely have 20 dollars to "throw around", much less 60 for a brand new title. :P

Balazs: What didn't you like about Grimrock (I assume that's what you mean)? I just got it with the HiB and I'm definitely looking forward to playing it, since the opinions on it were mostly positive.
To me that genre just has not aged very well...

The frustrations are much clearer now to me than they were back when i last played this type of RPG..

The dungeon (the entire game maybe even) is so very very dull and bland.
Combat mechanics didn't suit me either..
My favourite game that I have played this year, from , is [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/legend_of_grimrock]Legend of Grimrock, definitely!

Thanks GOG for another fantastic year and see you soon in 2013! :)

It goes very wrong with today's hollywood crap movies. They are usually 20 minutes of action at the beginning and then the plot starts.

I found myself pretty confused a couple of times. If I read at least what this fucking movie is about (I don't watch trailers because they always show all the good stuff). I read spoiler free reviews every time I wanna watch something.

I won't waste my time on another turd like Looper.

You can try games without buying them, just saying.

I must say, while I try to avoid being a snobby "everything is shit today", I'm hardly compelled to go to the cinema anymore.

Well, I rarely do that too, but even if a movie is "free", wasting 2 hours to watch some shitty movie is still too much. Especially that there are still thousands of great movies I will not see because of wasting my time on some shit like Looper

But there is a time, from time to time, when I visit cinemas once a week. But I pick my movies to watch with extreme caution then...

Asking friends about a movie isn't a great idea either. Usually, if somebody is sci-fi geek, or horror geek or crime geek, he or she will love the movie even though it's shitty.

Even I like almost all zombie movies despite they are mostly shit ;P

Wow, I can"t believe I actually ninja'd something and then it's not one but whole bunch of games that I don't own :D (missed out on the interplay promo back then). Thank you very much makr3la, very, very generous of you!!!
Have a Very Happy New Year!
Dishonored was good. Mass Effect three was bad.

Sure. However, as I mentioned, I don't have the hardware to run the game.

Please note that I was not trying to seem pretentious and whatnot because I'd formed an opinion of Spec Ops without having played it. It has really shook up people (like how Amnesia "shook up" the horror genre ... well, kind of) and got them talking, and having read what they had to say (and as an American finding what they took away from it somewhat offensive), I picked up an impression of the game.

If you don't want to talk about it until I experience it for myself, that's fine, but consider doing it in a kind manner.

Yes, being a college student, I have to cram fun in where I can, so (and this may be a bit shallow) if something doesn't really interest or entertain me early on, I'll move on to a different film. I've enjoyed b-movies like Return of the Living Dead, Night of the Creeps, The Blob (1988 version), etc. more than some Hollywood films, especially so-called sex "comedies".
