Best: probably Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward. I've only scratched the surface, so it's hard to tell how much I'll like it. It's a very tense and frightening experience though, and that alone makes me love it more than any other game I've played this year.

Runner up would have to be the Walking Dead. The journey was interesting all the way through, and the ending is one of the most powerful I've ever seen in a game.

Worst: Assassin's Creed III. The first 10 hours of the game are spent going through some of the most mind numbing tutorial missions ever designed. Unfortunately, it didn't get any better once the game opened up. The story is boring, the sidequests are pointless, and most of the game's systems are poorly thought out and mostly useless. It's sad really, it had a lot of potential, but turned out to be a terrible mess.
Best - Borderlands 2 (i dunno what people have against it. It DOES get boring after a while, but only after you got your moneys worth). Far Cry 3. Dark Souls .Mark of the Ninja

Worst - Dear Esther , Diablo III, Black Ops 2

nijuu: Worst - Dear Esther
Really? Care to elaborate?
Can't really say because I was overseas without my PC for 90% of the year.

Mass Effect 3 was awesome though.
Best:FAR CRY 3,BL2
Worst:AC3
I've played very few of this year's games. Just Dishonored, Slender, Serious Sam 3, FTL, Miasmata, and a bit of Halo 4.

Best - Miasmata
Worst - Slender
Best: Game of Thrones, Yesterday, MassEffect 3 and The Book of Unwritten Tales ( if it counts as a relaese for this year)

Worst: Don't remember right now.

The Game of Thrones game is good? Really?
Best: To the Moon. Amazing story, though some will claim it is not really a game. I haven't played Walking Dead so I can't say; I'll get to it eventually.

Worst: Book of Unwritten Tales. This game has some humorous moments like the shtick with the server demon but all these do is remind one that behind the gloss the story and the game play is dreary.

Magic: The Gathering Duals of the Planeswalker (2012). Dull. The dullest thing i have ever played. I play it to put me to sleep at night.

Biggest Disappointments: The Witcher 2. It's not a bad game but it felt too much like it belonged on a console and not the PC. I thought the "action" aspect of the game severely distracted from the "rpg" aspect of the game.

Mists of Pandaria: Never has Blizzard given us so much to do and so little reason to do it. Besides, my server basically bellied up and died and it is no fun playing an MMO with yourself.

Biggest Surprises: This is kind of a honorable mention for best game but Legend of Grimrock. It's over-hyped but despite that it manages to be a decent dungeon crawler and that is not something that has been seen much lately.

The Secret World: It's sad that this MMO is all about zombies (which I can't stand) because there is a great deal here to like. Great story and the dungeons are for the most part well done. I just can't stand zombie games.
Best: Crusader Kings 2, XCOM, Avernum: Escape from the Pit

Worst: I don't think I've played any really bad games this year, but the most disappointing for me were Risen 2 and Warlock: Master of the Arcane.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting too much either, but got pleasantly suprised by it. I liked it a lot, mainly because of it's atmosphere, which is rather dark and really seem to resemble the Game of Thrones universe well. It also was a bit different from the usual rpg, as there are no "goody-good" heroes and it's much more story oriented than most other rpgs.
Best: King of Dragon Pass - A totally spectacular and (to me) unkown oldie coming out of left field? Good show, Jim!

Worst: To the Moon - What a bunch of overhyped tripe. Gameplay was non-existent and the story left a lot to be desired.
I didn't played or buy lots AAA titles this year.

So my vote for the best game in year 2012 is:

- Retro City Rampage. This surprised me a lot. At first glance, just like everybody else i really doubt it's worth the initial price, $15. Turn out, the game offer much more content, longevity and freedom than any major titles that i've played since past couple of years, despite the tiny size (30MB).

- Pro Evolution Soccer 2013. I'm fan of football, of course i can't have a whole year without playing footie game. But this year edition is really good, it might surpassed FIFA 13 especially if you play against your mates on offline mode.

I don't have lot of regret with my purchase this year. So there's no worst game of the year from me. If there's any, those are mainly F2P titles.
