The Witcher 2 2.0 updated version: Changing the mouse sensitivity settings don't change anything, mouse is still slow and spongy feeling. I have a top end machine that's a few months old, and never had a problem with the mouse before. Battery is new so that's not it. It's a wireless roller ball.

Any ideas?

Yeah, Its the issue I appear to notice when I switch playing between Deux EX HR and Witcher 2.

Even thou both use Scaleform API for input, Deux EX HR has good mouse pointer control.

So I'm not alone on this. Does adjusting the sensitivity make any difference with you?

I went into the user.ini file and changed those settings, and it made no difference. Very weird. Here is the section of that file:

[MouseInput]
SensitivityX=0.9
SensitivityY=0.9
Smoothness=1

[MouseInput]
KeyboardCooldownSpeed=0.1
MouseDampX=7000
MouseDampY=7000
MouseSensitivityX=0.307692
MouseSensitivityY=0.192308
MouseSmoothness=0
UseMouseDamp=false

That is my settings...It provides me with excellent control.

Note: If the game runs slow, then the mouse input has delay. This is noticeable when the mouse runs superbly in the main menu but starts to behave woozy while selecting dialogs while playing the game during interactive cut-scenes.

1. Using mouse in the Main Menu - no issue to me, mouse input is superbly responsive.
2. Using mouse in the inventory - no issue to me, mouse input is superbly responsive.
3. Using mouse in the meditation menu - a minor delay (which I feel is agreeable since I am not actually playing)
4. Using mouse to look around with game's camera while playing - no issue to me, mouse input is superbly responsive.
5. Using mouse to select dialog's, during conversations - only issue if the game is rendering heavily in the background and my graphics card is actually running slow, else no issues.

I also tried with dampness enabled and fiddled with the 'MouseDampX' and 'MouseDampY', but it almost makes my mouse behave like a very evident joypad (like how I used to emulate mouse for analog input for ps1/ps2 controller emulation).
I tried your settings and it made no difference. It's like I'm changing a file that's not in this game.

My mouse acts the same from the main menu well into the game. The game runs very fast with no lagging ever. The mouse though acts like it's drunk. Sluggish. Stupid.

Thanks for your post!

Oh, *bump*.

Thou mouse's running fine on my sys, with the above behavior I mentioned in points. I even use a very cheap local optical mouse, which cost'ed me an equivalent of around $5 (I think, more or less).

My system:
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965BE_C3Rev@2.7Ghz_0.9875volts
RAM: 4GB DDR2 800Mhz 4-4-4-12
GPU: AMD 6950 2GB (first reference design)
You could try disabling Vertical Sync. It gives an illusion of mouse smoothing/lag in certain games.

Are you changing the correct ini file? You want the one here: \Documents\Witcher 2\Config

My mouse acts drunken too. It's especially bad during combat - I mean, Geralt swings madly in all directions and his blows land everywhere.

Except on the enemy.

Tried editing the ini file too...no change so far...disabling VSync had no effect either :(

Funny you mention that, because after reading the first reply to my original post, I went back and made sure. Yep, it's the user.ini file in the config directory. It wouldn't be beyond me to make that mistake either, happens once in a while. ;-)

My system is:
Dell XPS-9100
Win7 64 bit
Intel Core i7 960 quad at 3.2Ghz
8 gigs of ram
ATI Radeon HD 5800, 1024 MB dedicated memory
1.5 terrabyte HD
blah blah blah...

My mouse is only spongy or drunk when I'm in menus. Not when I look around or in combat. It's strange that changing the settings make no difference though.
Hmm...just tried Anarki_Hunter's settings, and there is some improvement. Still a little sluggish during dialogue, but accessing the inventory is a lot better now. Exploration seems better too.

Thank you! :)
