UPDATE: Heads up! There are 24h left, so now is the time to take advantage of the amazing deals and upgrade your collections. Eyes on the price, Boo, eyes on the price!

Years ago, the Baldur's Gate series changed the way we look at gaming and the scope of what was considered possible. Even now, the legacy continues through the Enhanced Editions – thanks to the hard work and years of updates to keep the inimitable Infinity Engine living on.

It's the work on the Enhanced Editions that made Siege of Dragonspear possible – the just-released, massive expansion to the timeless classic, available only for Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition.

"The team at Beamdog was able to breathe a new life into the Infinity Engine classics." says Greg Tito, Communications Director for Dungeons & Dragons "We're proud to recognize their excellent work in offering the best possible experience and support for these legendary titles. We want these to become the definitive editions – featuring both the enhanced and classic versions of the games."

On April 29, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition will be expanded to include the classic versions – each becoming the Definitive Edition Bundle and not available for purchase separately. If you already own the classics on GOG.com, the games currently on your shelf won't be affected.

"We're excited to take our commitment and support to Baldur's Gate and GOG fans to the next level and humbled to work with such great partners. The Definitive Edition Bundle will give every Baldur's Gate fan what they're looking for" – concludes Cameron Tofer, Beamdog COO.

In the near future, we're also looking forward to full GOG Galaxy support for achievements in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition – as well as in the Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear expansion.

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition will be 75% off until April 4 11:59 PM PDT / April 5 2:59 AM EDT/ 7:59 BST and 60% off until April 29 10:59 AM PDT / 1:59 PM EDT / 18:59 BST. The 60% discount for Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition until April 29 10:59 AM PDT / 1:59 PM EDT / 18:59 BST. The 85% discount for owners of the original saga will last until April 29 10:59 AM PDT / 1:59 PM EDT / 18:59 BST.

hummer010: You're using logic in a thread that has become largely devoid of logic.
Apologies for the intrusion, but I have to say that there's still plenty of logic in this thread.

I mean, the thought of Beamdog and GOG being bound to Hasbro's wishes, having no choice in the situation?
That's just absurd. It's not like Hasbro is a billion dollar company, and it's certainly not as if they're the rights holders to everything, after all...

Being an advocate of the "running your skull through a meat grinder to spite your face" approach, I would strongly advise GOG to give a great big middle finger to both Hasbro and Beamdog.
After all, it's not like that could possibly cause a problem with GOG and Hasbro's business partnership, leading to them pulling GOG's ability to sell the entirety of the classic D&D titles we all currently get to enjoy, right?

There's so little to lose, potentially, that I have to think that GOG just doesn't have any spine if they're not willing to push forward with an idea that could cause their customers to lose legal access to -

Baldur's Gate
Baldur's Gate 2
Planescape: Torment
Neverwinter Nights
Neverwinter Nights 2
Icewind Dale
Icewind Dale 2
Temple of Elemental Evil
Dragonshard
Demon Stone

After all, all these titles are totally being widely sold in a huge variety of venues, and they've never been very popular anyway, really.

Hell, I could go to Steam right now and download Neverwinter, which is just a fantastic game, with very little in the way of sickening pay-to-win tendencies. That's almost the same thing, right?
I've also heard some great things about Sword Coast Legends, one of the newest D&D games. Their company is undoubtedly highly prosperous thanks to the quality of their product.

Given all the quality options available elsewhere, and GOG's general unwillingness to stand up and fight the power, I think I'm going to be taking a break from game purchases.
That might seem like an insignificant thing at first, but I know in my heart of hearts that I will be able to turn the tide personally, that these words will touch a GOG executive's heart, spurring them to righteous action in the face of such jaw dropping malevolence.

In closing, I would implore all sane, logically-inclined people to join me in my one hundred percent useful, in no way whatsoever utterly meaningless display.
There are plenty of grinders to go around.

I bet he never went to the "Games" section and filtered "sort by bestselling".

Thanks for the link, I didn't know you knew sarcasm in Canada.

@CarrionCrow: Sorry I missed it, too much funny stuff in this thread that's not intended as such.

Would GOG themselves really want this bundle to happen? They lost two huge bestsellers on the front page of the catalog, making them less noticeable and less easy to find (since a search presumably only shows the Enhanced Editions I believe, and uninformed people may not know "Definitive Edition"s includes the original Baldur's Gates).

It does suck, but wait for 50% off sales and you can still get the original game at $10 each.

(GOG, you should edit in the fact that the original bonus content is still available, under "Included goodies".)

Three huge best-sellers (don't forget Icewind Dale!).

This might confuse people, though, as by default the Enhanced Edition doesn't come with those extras. You'll first need to redeem the serial that contains the original version and it will be added as a separate box to your shelf, installers and bonus content together.

Anyone know if the codes that come with the Enhanced Editions have an expiration?

Thanks, I'm sure I'll find someone to give them to by then.
Speaking of funny... I haven't even played SoD ($20?!) but I found this amusing, if just for the mod title.

Not to mention the filename itself.

Sorry, that's what I meant...it's what made me laugh too!

On a more serious note: is it true that the current version on GOG of the EE is different from older versions in terms of UI and graphics? I tried the EE ages ago but intend to play through it properly for the first time next week, however I've read in several places that the post-SoD updates (not the DLC itself, but patches to BG1EE) have drastically changed the UI and graphics "for the worse".

I ask because even though there seems to be no way to "roll back" these patches on GOG (on Steam, you can still play 1.3 it seems), I'm pretty sure I have older versions of the EE saved on my hard drive, should I dig that out to install instead of the latest? If so, what would be the latest "good" version to play?

Or is this just hyperbole and the current version of BG1EE is absolutely fine to play?

The latest is fine to play.

It's a bit visually different. Some people like it, some do.
