If your looking for traction of idea's it's best to put them simply under an even tone and allow the internet to fight itself, while providing source data. In the end a finite being will never win against an infinite entity in it's infinite realm, but it's achilles heel is that for all it's blather 'immutable fact, pure logical rationale and a non-adversarial position is necessary for it to have any real world traction.
What is real is real, & the truth doesn't care what the internet misthinks or wether it gets butthurt.

Lets say you want to change gog to remove downvoting.
You have to first address voting as something not particularly useful in the first place; and if it is useful ... to what end?
Is gog removing posts? Is gog curating opinions?
What does gog try to achieve by doing so and is it achieving it's goal by periodically sweeping some views under a rug.
Because there are literally thousands of cases where people online have tried doing that and it's simply made even larger problems and specifically for the company doing it.
List the companies that have done it, show it's not successful, show the types of problems it causes and how they relate to the context of gog.com; that's where i'd start.
You don't need to offer a solution though, because your not being paid and solutions are worth money; the people mentally agile enough to create them, a wage.
That's the reality right there; gog is a business it's trajectory with it's former pro-consumer stance trots it out like a whore's new gold heels.
It too will reap what it sows and when it's completely alienated it's original base it will be just anouther walled garden nobody wanted on the pc.
People just fear how far they'll over invest in such things (like the game where you auction $100 but whoever loses the bid has to pay their bid to you [which escalates from positive territory straight into trying to minimize losses]); the thing is the niche won't go away gog will have removed themselves from it, allowing a new player to step into the role.
Big Gaming is hedging their bets on game streaming; it'll be a huge investment that they can pump as much money into they want,
It'll flop because at the end of the day people want to own games & share their experience, because they live in the real world with real people & simply put they don't want their integration with their societies severed by a pay to be with everyone else model; not with where economies are heading.
So if downvotes are ticking you off, how 'bout you just take the path of least resistance and ignore them like everyone on the internet writing out carefully written paragraphs of information to sway views of people who really don't matter. ;)

The answer is you respect they have every right to feel the way they do and are too emotionally close to the issue to remain in a position of non-bias.
So you don't argue & engage with them; but this is the internet everyone is in contact here by the very nature of it and you would have to be as ignorant as an inanimate carbon rod not to notice that very nature.
If you cannot handle people having views that are not your own; it's really your own failure in recognising that the internet isn't going to support you.
It will boil down your issues until they precipitate out the base nature of your ideology and then with the harsh truth resting in the petri dish it will weigh it with measure for it's reality.
If you wish not to be interrogated under it's red hot glare then you have only anonymity and being truly forgettable to placate your delicate sensibilities.
Want to wave around the 'i'm a survivor flag' there's plenty of them & the fact is people only care what is or isn't, and only then at a stretch what may be.

I've seen entire threads where if it was specific people they got downvoted regardless of content. Actually the content more than not would be normal or good, but certain people with obvious army of bots for down-voting are around. Not only that, threads with fairly decent discussion were being deleted. I recreate the thread a couple times, then i got suspended.

Don't expect your speech to be respected here, unlike when i joined in 2014.

I regularly get downvoted for saying hello. Feel free to look around the forum and check. The difference is I don't put on a tinfoil hat and try to pawn it off on some conspiracy. I just walk away, because I really don't give a shit, and on a side note, I have neither the interest nor the mental capacity to make a bot. I can barely operate a fucking toaster. Shit, I don't even own a cell phone and I wouldn't know what to do with one if I did. XD
