Get ready for quite the tall (t)ale!

The Dwarves, a story-heavy RPG where our beloved race engages in real-time tactical carnage against hordes of assorted evildoers, is now available on Windows, Mac, and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 10% launch discount.

They are loud, short-tempered, and famously territorial. They have a real knack for mining, drinking, tending to their facial hair, and swinging an axe. They are 15 iron-clad warriors of unstoppable fury and they are under your command!

What they lack in height your vertically challenged champions make up in grit, and what you lack in numbers you will make up in tactical exploitation of the battlefield and the punishing laws of physics. Pause the action at will, issue orders to your stalwart lads and mow through hordes of stinkin' greenskins, evil magi, lousy undead, and other beasties that threaten to derail Tungdil Goldhand's epic quest through the land of Girdlegard. If your beard's twitching for more adventure, the world map is full of secrets, hidden treasure, and neat NPCs that are dying to share a pint and a story with you. Don't you let that beer grow warm, now!

Guide The Dwarves as they navigate a world full of magic, treachery, and cracked skulls, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Want to claim all the riches of this fantastic world? Upgrade to the Deluxe Edition and get access to the Soundtrack, the 104-page Artbook, and the incredibly detailed map of Girdlegard.
The 10% discount will last until December 8, 5:59 PM UTC.

Laserschwert: Any chance for making the Deluxe Edition upgrade available as a standalone purchase? I don't want to buy the game right now, but I'd like to buy the soundtrack via the Deluxe Edition bonus material.

shmerl: May be they should release the soundtrack on Bandcamp? Try contacting developers about it. I'd also appreciate the FLAC version of it.
Oh, I already had an extended Facebook chat with the composer... he isn't on Bandcamp yet, but he'd be interested in selling the soundtrack someway or another. We'll see where this goes. Anyway, GOG would have been the easiest route right now.

Ah, great. Try suggesting Bandcamp - it's a great way to sell music DRM-free, and they offer FLAC, unlike many other stores.

Who is the composer by the way?

UPDATE: OK, I found him - it's Benny Oschmann:

I just contacted him about Bandcamp / FLAC release. GOG would be fine too, as long as they'll add FLAC to the current mp3 only version. But GOG usually don't sell soundtracks on their own, while Bandcamp specialize exactly in that.

For those in Germany and/or capable of understanding German: I stumbled over a physical retail edition of this game at the German Amazon site today. It comes in a metal case, and is apparently fully DRM-free. And what's more, it's actually cheaper than this digital edition.

I'll probably still go for a GOG version if and when I buy a copy, but I thought some of you might be interested in the retail version, especially since DRM-free retail games are such a rare sight these days.
Finished it :-) There is something about the narrative of KING Art games really gripping me so I can't wait to come home to play more. If you want to have a loveable quirky cast and cut through hordes of enemies terminator style (if you select the right ones wink wink), this is the one.

Same here, and I think it's related also to the fact that it's based on the book. Characters are really well written and have depth to them.

You can also play ninja style - try Narmora and Giralda in duo.

If you add Rodario with his sleep-AOE with felt 0.001 sec cooldown and insta-killing sleeping enemies it becomes downright scary.

So how is this game so far? Have they made any updates? Did they mention DLC of somekind in the future? Patches?
