War just came back home.

World in Conflict, a beautiful love-letter to tactics and explosions, is available now on Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com

A hail of artillery pierces tanks and grocery stores, as homes, terrified men, and boys burn under sheets of napalm. Retreat? Never. These are your homes - and you've said your goodbyes fifteen seconds ago. A stunning flash engulfs the now radioactive pit formerly known as Jamestown High and for a few seconds there is silence. But the battle rages on, a dozen blocks down, and your attention is needed elsewhere.

World in Conflict is one of a kind, really. It's an RTS that succeeded in becoming both action-oriented and incredibly tactical, easily accessible but challenging, and a beautiful spectacle of war. It wasn't the first to do many of the things that make it brilliant, but the combination of small-scale tactics on huge battlefields, and the sheer destructive force at your fingertips is unlike any other. You're put in control of a small squad of infantry, tanks, air support or artillery - just one part of a larger clash. Dynamic single-player missions will take you through the various roles and locations in every battle, keeping you constantly at peak intensity as you defend the United States from an onslaught of enemy forces - and then execute a counter-attack in the Soviet Assault expansion.

Commander - three minutes until the second nuke is primed.

The bonds of war and terrifying firepower at your fingertips, World in Conflict is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com
Absolutely love this game. Played through it three or four times over the years.

More "tactics' than strategy but what it does, it does oh so well.

Well, this game shows you both sides and you really don't feel like a hero after a certain mission.
This isn't your typical "America, fuck yeah!"-game.
If you like RTS games you should give this one a try.
Awesome that you finally got it on board---the recent rereleases are awesome! :)
I have a retail version so now I can get replace it with digital backup. Game story is really deep, recommends to everybody who loves RTT
Great release but I would love to see WiC with german language here on GoG. Any plans for this?

Bavarian: How about

Company of Heroes

Company of Heroes 2

Codename: Panzers - Phase one

Codename: Panzers - Phase two

Rush for Berlin

next? If you like WiC, vote for them! They're all owned by Deep Silver and available DRM-free (besides CoH2), so this should be possible.
You forgot Rush for the Bomb and Codename Panzers: Cold War :p

@apehater game was developed by a swedish company. So, no, there is no 'Murica, F..k Yeah! The story is shown from the both sides and you will care about all the characters that are shown in the story. NOT your typical RTS/RTT.

I saw Codename: Panzers: Cold War on GamersGate, and it's published by Nordic, but I haven't seen Phase One or Two digitally available anywhere. I could probably pick up retail copies next time I'm in Europe, if they're really DRM-free. Does Deep Silver really own them? I hope they bring them here. And already voted for 'em long ago. :-)
Yessssss!
Wishlisted. Always liked RTT games by Massive Entertainment.

Deep Silver owns only the Rush titles. No one knows where the Codename Panzers: Phase One and Phase Two ended up - CDV had the publishing rights, the IP rights, well...no one truly knows, as no one managed to find out if Stormregion kept them (in which case those rights might have ended up in the hands of 10tacle Studios, a german company that aquired Stormregion, only to go in bankruptcy) or those rights remained at CDV along with the publishing rights (CDV also went bankrupt).

Former employees night shed some light, but would probably take a lot of detective work.

The fate of most German game studios. Producing stuff here ist just too expensive due to taxes, high rent, etc...
Silver Style Studios was dissolved last year so getting "The Fall: Last days of Gaia" here may be even more complicated, I guess. :(

Where are the stalkers when you need them? ;)

Most of the SSE employees went to Kalypso and formed Noumena. And they've finally delivered Demonicon (which is not a bad Das Schwarze Auge game, but neither a good one)

But, yeah. We need our legal stalkers:P

You could try to get the GameStar 12/2009 to get The Fall.
