Yep, extremes and one-sided solutions are always shit, doesn't matter in which direction they go, even slight monarchy has advantages if it's done very thoughtfully and is able to engange in compromises.
Only the middle ground works more or less nicely in most aspects of life and above all, people in all positions need a good common sense.

The concerning question for me is:
are they making the movie for long-term fans (= "older people") or are they making it for the kids and teens ?
If they can move away from the pervasive tween curse it will hopefully be OK.

Slightly OT, the first trailer for the new "Independence Day" is out.

Is it bad that I'm way more excited for that then for the new Star Wars? I really love Independence Day, as far as big, stupid blockbusters go it's one of my favourites. I always watch it with the biggest, dumbest "fuck yeah" grin. The sequel probably won't be nearly as fun, but I still hope it might be. And honestly? I think even the trailer is better than the Star Wars ones. It's about getting excited for the new movie, while Star Wars are all about getting nostalgic for the old ones.

To make this movie, they made Kyle Katarn non-canon. That is enough to hate it.
