Navagon: There really has been a shortage, no, an absence of good mech games for far too long. I think that the main reason for this is that everyone who owns anything almost remotely mech related automatically sues everyone else who tries to release something even vaguely to do with mechs. It's a mutually self-defeating masochistic circle jerk.

I don't think that it was ever a matter of there being a lack of interest in big, stompy mechs blowing seven shades of shit out of each other.

So yes, it's great that finally we're getting a couple of games that seem like they won't be in the firing line of these endless lawsuits. I suppose the mech legal landscape is so pocked with craters that it's now much easier to see a clear path through it.
I remember reading about the legal issues MW:Online had yes. I wonder if that is also why we haven't seen Battletech explored in film in television. A big budget well made Battletech film would be awesome! Pacific Rim was too over the top, too massive, and too silly for me to take seriously. I'd much rather see a gritty and serious battletech film that takes inspiration from the tons of awesome artwork out there. There are tons of anime with mechs, including some incredibly series like Blue Gender, but I'd much rather see one featuring the, compared to anime mecha for the most part, slow and lumbering behemoths of the Battletech universe.

Oh yes, I was incredibly excited for Starbound early in its development, but then it seemed like nothing happened for a long while. I'm now just biding my time waiting for it to come out of early access, while playing Terraria in the meantime. Secretly I'm also far more excited for Terraria: Otherworld :P

Matewis: I'm a little worried that it might be one of those games that is really difficult to let go of once you get going :\

LynXsh: Speaking of DF's difficulty...
:D As long as it's a little bit easier than Nethack, which is kicking my ass at the moment

Yeah, I can't imagine a great deal of money being invested in mech-based games and films at the moment. Not unless someone stumps up the cash to buy at least two mech IPs to consolidate them.

micktiegs_8: Can't wait for it. I bought the game since way before it's Steam days... something like 0.4.
The beta is in the very near future, they recently announced... which means it will be feature complete, with just bugs and balance to labour over.
Good to hear! I actually "discovered" this one on Amazon a few years back. I was always tempted but the long-in-development time and the fact that it hadn't been updated (at least according to Amazon reviews) made me think it was basically going to remain a perma-pre-alpha game. I didn't want to play it, hoping for more / lamenting missed potential.

But knowing that it's actually moving forward makes me excited again! I'm... actually glad I had let it be, as the long long wait would have probably killed my interest. As opposed to right now, where I'm once again excited seeing you mention they might be hitting the home stretch.

Time to start bugging them to release here...
Gorogoa

It's a mind-blowing lateral thinking puzzle game. I played the demo in 2012 and have been waiting for the release ever since. Latest release window is Q2 2016, let's hope they make it this time.
I dont become interested in a game until it's released.
What new games are there in development atm people are following? especially indie rpgs?

isn't exactly very new (it was funded through Kickstarter over four years ago), but it also have not been released yet either. Every once in a while I go and check up on it to see how it's coming along, and while it's been pushed forward uncountable times, there also [url=https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lavidimus/chris-taylors-arakion/updates]seems to be fairly steady progress.

I definitely don't follow them closely, but every now and then will check on them, and there's quite a few, surprisingly.

Camelot Unchained - The game I have been following the most, but I have only really started following recently because they're coming close to Beta1 (not yet announced, but, things are coming together so much so fast now for this game that I can't help but be excited. It's been in-development for YEARS and I'm a backer.) This is one game that I will actually play in Beta due to it being an MMO and the more familiar I am with it at launch, the better leader I'll be (I plan to be a leader of the realm of the Tuatha De Dannan.) Not a general fan of MMOs, but having played Dark Age of Camelot hardcore for ~4 years way back in its early days, the time is coming again to involve myself in such a world, I believe.

Project Zomboid - I think the name is stupid, so I just call it "PZ", because aside from the name, it's really frikken good! I spent just a little time playing with it because it is definitely a game I only want to play once all features are in and it is well polished. Not generally into survival games or crafting or zombies, BUT, this game is special. The fact that they are adding NPCs and more story elements is what keeps me excited about this!

The Long Dark - Again, while generally not into survival and crafting games, this game has a story mode and a ton of other features that make me greatly interested. I check back every so often to make sure they're still doing story mode, and, yes, it is coming! Again, not a game I will really dig my teeth into until it is released and polished.

EverSpace - Hands-down, my #1 wanted-game that I do not yet own. I have been loving Galaxy on Fire 2 (never played 1, unfortunately), and so my confidence in these developers is very-high, added to everything I've read and seen about this game, I can't help but drooool in anticipation! I think it is going to be epic.

Exanima + Sui Generis - A two-punch set of games that, in my understanding, can not be divided into playing one but not the other. Totally unique gameplay in an RPG game, they look great and promising, but still a while to see if they are going to deliver a good game.

less keeping an eye on "We Happy Few" and "Ghost of Tale", whether they get good stories is what will make me more interested in them down the line.

also semi following Seven: Days Long Gone - but mostly just waiting for it to be released because pretty sure it's going to be excellent

even though it's not a gog game i'm waiting for Sea of Thieves since it's a rare game, for me i make exceptions if it's a company i like since Rare made good games like battletodas, Jetpac, Perfect Dark, Banjo-Tooie, and others

I also like the soundtrack: We shell sail together for the game and the rest of the songs

not really sure how far in development when posting like games that just started development a few weeks ago, months or a year or so
