Fenixp: Atheism
is a form of religion, whether you like it or not. It is, after all, a belief in something - I mean, believing that something which you can't disprove doesn't exist is just as silly as believing that something you can't prove does.
No, it's not: Religion is a belief
system. Atheism isn't a system at all, there are no commonly held moral values, no common cultural heritage, no traditions, symbols - and most importantly - no spirituality. While all religions requires belief in some form, not all forms of belief is a religion.
To me, being an atheist, talking about different religions is like talking about different races. It's such an "embedded part" of our "understanding" of the world that it's understandable that some people keep on insisting that such a thing really exists and that people will end up different places after they die depending on which religion they belong to, but there's nothing to substantiate these claims with.
(I prefer the empty set - Ø - as a symbol for atheism, if needed)
Oh, and I'm a man, and I prefer not knowing the gender of those I (casually) interact with on the 'net - it's usually irrelevant, and if it becomes relevant I'm probably not interested in going down that path. There's no need to differentiate between a d*ck and a c*nt when you can call anyone an a*s without dragging gender issues into it.
