We're back with the long-forgotten "Ask the Developers a Question", where we give you the chance to ask some of the industry's top developers questions about your favorite games. This time you have a chance to ask your question to industry legend (and man behind the acclaimed [url=http://www.gog.com/en/catalogue#all_genres/search/broken sword/]Broken Sword series) Charles Cecil from Revolution Software. We're gathering your inquiries at users-at-gog.com and in the comments section until Friday, February 11 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. From all your questions we'll pick the 5 most interesting ones—as well as some of our own—and pass them along to Charles for his answers. The winning question writers will receive a code for any currently-listed GOG game of their choice.

The full Q&A will be posted on GOG.com as soon as we receive all the answers—and we may just have a surprise for you when we post them, too!
What is your view on the point and click adventure genre today, why are we seeing a decrease of well written adventure games and what is the future like for the genre?
When will you and GOG.com release the fourth installment of the series? And yes, I think there is a future for adventure games. Now is the time to bring them back, especially with digital downloading and devices that really can cater to that kind of game.

Fenixp: Aren't we still waiting for Painkiller Q'n'A ?
This.
What was the thought process behind developing the stories for these games? Did you go into it as if writing a book, writing for a movie, or did you have the mindset that it was a game right off the bat?
What point and click adventure game that has come out since the release of Broken Sword 1, do you wish you had created and why?
Where did the inspiration for all the wonderful, funny, and believable characters come from? You don't see this level of immersion in many recent games.
Do you think you could convince Nintendo to release the Mother games in America? That would be doing gaming a great service.
Broken Sword is filled with history - what was your favourite piece of mythology or historic landmark you just had to include into the game?
Besides the broken sword games you worked on and any other revolution software games, what are some of your favorite point and click adventure games and why are they you favorite?
HOW THE HECK WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW I COULD MELT THAT STICK OF GREASE IN A SCENE LAMP?!?!?! (BS3 reference)

Lol, just kidding. A more serious question: Do you do a lot of intensive research prior to making the storylines for these games? I've only played Broken Sword 1 and 3, but both seemed to be knee-deep in historic intrigues. How do you get the inspiration?

Oh, and will Nico return in Broken Sword 5? She was oddly missing in BS4 I hear :( The interactions between George and Nico were definitely one of the high points of BS3 - I could feel the romantic tension through the screen :D

...
And in case you've got time for a nerdy question: What development tools did you use to make Broken Sword 3? Or is that confidential?

What is your opinion on DRM? How do developers and publishers should treat this subject?
Have you ever considered the possibility of releasing a new Broken sword game, with the same gameplay 1 & 2 had and not some crazy, action, bullet dodging thing?
What did you like the least about each of your games that are here on gog
A few years ago there were rumours about a Broken Sword movie. Was this a hoax or not? If not, could you shed some light on how far this idea has progressed?
