Wow! I knew it would do it. But this is pretty phenomenal. At this pace who knows what they'll wind up with? I know I put down a lot more on this one than the others I've backed.

Kinda cute how they posted there will be a Mac version "if" the game hits 425.000 $...
PayPal is coming? Great, i'll be able to kick this one!:)

Also, Wasteland 2 for 900k, and this for 400k? Making RPGs gets cheaper and cheaper. ;>

Like it might not happen. :D

Now the alternative languages will be added. At this rate they'll be adding Welsh.

These are 2D efforts relying on word of mouth advertising. Probably the most expensive thing they'll have in the games is the voice acting.

rewsan: I was hoping this was what we were getting when i clicked on the link :( I've been waiting for the sequel since 1994.

Still I think i'll be pledging on this one.
Hell yeah. Shadowrun on the SNES was basically my introduction to the Adventure game genre. The conversation system used there was similar to the one used on Gabriel Knight - the first PC Adventure game I ever played. Even if the actual fighting system was broken as hell, the game and its storyline was amazing.

They probably didn't have a dedicated Mac coder / porter / optimizer. If they have to hire someone then that's why they needed 25 grand.

Yeah, i figure 3D and advertising costs a ton. ;) Though my friends were all scratching their heads when they heard and RPG is made for 900k. And Shadowrun wants less than a half of that. I mean, it's the same what Double Fine asked, and 100k less than what Lowe ask for the LSL resurrection.

Anyhow, i'm happy to see that it's still possible to make great games with a reasonable budget.:D

Don't forget that many projects have other backers who will fund them only if there's enough public interest (they meet their Kickstarter target). So their target might not actually be all the money they need to make the game. Or even half. Takedown is probably the most obvious example of this. But it probably also applies to many others too.

Then there's also the fact that these games haven't been made yet. We're only really hoping right now that it proves possible.

Oh, i wasn't aware of that. Anyhow, i doubt a seasoned designer would botch the budgeting calculations, or whatever it's called, but now it makes sense. Thanks for the info! :)

Call me a moron, or an optimist [though it's kinda the same], but i really can't see a reason why these kickstarters wouldn't work, unless the budgeting wasn't done right...

LOL erm... it seems to be impossible for a person to master the arts of both game design and project management.

I just hope they worked out everything they might need and then doubled it.

This is why the concept of independent game studios died out completely for a while. Many studios simply can't get a budget and stick to it. Hell, even many publishers have been utterly useless with money - and publishers aren't really good for much else.
This is the way games should be made! No EA, no Ubisoft, no rushed production, no DRM.

I put my $15 down and their over their goal of $400,000.

I hope its a good one. Maybe, they'll have an open beta for supporters in 6 months!
WHAT?! First new Tim Schafer adventure, then Wasteland II and now THIS?!

Gotta support this. I hope this is becoming somekind of standard. New Gabriel Knight next? Hehe...
