It's umm... It's not about controls being sucky, it's the execution. The two characters lie on top of each other, motionlessly, and when you wiggle your mous in a correct fashion, the guy thursts and the woman goes 'ah!' And you do it over and over until a cinematic triggers. It's ... Eh ... It's utterly terrible. The censored version actually has movie-like cutscenes that feel much more organic.

I wasn't being particularly serious. From my own asexual corner all the outrage on all sides looks rather amusing more than anything else. It *really* looks a bad game and - other than for the sex bit, and that you can seduce women that can't really run away, I don't think there'd been any interest in it by pretty much anyone, whatsoever. I can see it selling well as these things tend to. I mean, for gods sake, I am sure pretty much anyone so inclined could find porn out there for free, by now, if that's what they are after.

From a wider social perspective: I HONESTLY think, despite all the outrage over valve banning this that the underlying attitude of the game actually is a pretty damn negative one. That's not about the nudity (fine with that) or the sex (I don't really understand sexual attraction, but I am still fascinated by human sexuality) - it's how antiquated and negative it all is, really. If it'd be a lot more realistic I'd celebrate it as gaming finally coming around to a bit more modern attitudes in respect to women/sex; as is, it sends out a really bad message on how it portrays sex and relationships. Unlike shooting someone, or bashing their head in, or killing them in any other brutal way, most of you folks out there will and / or do engage in sex. Eventually. With that in mind I'd rather the super macho man seducer (watch some films from the 60s and cringe; watch some from the 80s and cringe even more) and the exploitative representation of women attitude would die off already - it doesn't help. It's negative. It's bad. Sex doesn't need more shallow and silly platitude-like representations. Do it well, respectful, realistic (which would actually - potentially - make it interesting) and if someone censors it then - I'd join in the protest. And I do get that Valve have set a precedent now, but I just can't get enraged in any way about it, with this particular game.

The first half of the game is decent, even if it has lots of QTEs, which I don't really like.
However, the second half is absolutely terrible, the story starts making no sense and they also completely break the original premise.

And the interactive sex scenes are extremely awkward, to say the least. Frankly, as Fenixp said, they would be much better off as simple cinematics, or even absent altogether, since they frankly don't add much.

Sex is part of life. Everyday life. Killing isn't. Death may be, but killing isn't.

That being said, war is a part of life and, somewhere, war is probably going on.

I don't see anything "harmful" about sex. It's sex. But I also don't see anything harmful about fantasy violence. It's when it became more realistic that the potential for harm rose, though I really don't think virtual violence has much of an effect on the average person one way or the other.

In my opinion I guess it's in The Witcher 2, even though it's a bit forced.

No wait.. My favorite has to be in Dragon age: origins, of course with Morrigan.

Skyrim could have used some romance. 300 hours and I'm married, it's allowed. =P

This is not an example of why games should not have sexual content. This is an example of a game with terrible sexual content. I played the game on XBOX. So to have sex you had to jiggle your analog stick. .. And yes, it was about as immature in the game as that unavoidable innuendo makes it sound. Pretty much destroyed was was arguably one of the most powerful moments in the narrative. I can ABSOLUTELY see how replacing that stupidity with a decent cutscene would have been a massive improvement.

More games need sexual content. More importantly, they need properly realised gaming sexual content. Fahrenheit is a perfect example of what not to do. Now that is over with, others can learn by this mistake. You know, if they had the balls to actually try.

I guess they just don’t want to sell porn. And I think there is a distinction to be made between a game that is porn and a game that has some sexual content. The latter they are evidently fine with.

They are not going to be the ones to try and challenge that side of our culture, well not that bluntly anyway. They do after all sell games that have some sexual content, and games themselves might actually be starting to move forward in the inclusion of sexual content.

This is not a problem with Steam, but a problem with society as a whole. And not really restricted to the USA either. Steam would gain nothing challenging all of this by itself.

Until people begin to see sex as something really natural and perfectly normal (which it is, though most religions would say otherwise), this is going to be the case with most major stores.

Interestingly, the U.S. actually acknowledges more protection for freedom of speech than much of Europe/Canada/etc.. On this cultural point, though, it's a little different.

There was also that other "game" about torturing naked women. I don't know what it was called, thank God, but wow.... that was seriously effed up.

I think it depends a bit on where in Europe you are, but yea, a lot of people are still so insecure about their sexuality that they feel offended by attractive nude men.

Was that game not a Germany exclusive? I've heard about it, but yea, it sounds like one of those games that won't get re-released on any digital distribution platform.

Come to think of it, I wonder how GOG or Valve would handle a game like Larry 7. While hardly hardcore pornography, it still shows quite a bit.

Since when has peoples sexuality not been "deviant"? People always seem to be fascinated in doing the slightly forbidden and "dirty".

And over here in Sweden some journalist found out about it, reported about how the new wave of sex games was corrupting our males who would want to go out and rape people after playing it/males are only interested in rape.
Then it turned out that the game was both relatively old and not released here. Her response when she got told about this was "It is not my job to fact check".

It is filled with sexual innuendo though. There is so much about the game that is about sex in one way or another, without actually showing anything.
