Arianus: Well it's sad for those like me who want more than a "Wham Bam Thank You Mam" night.
avatar
Navagon: In the long run I want more than that too. But it sure as hell beats being all lonely and sad, doesn't it? Sometimes people are too concerned with the bigger picture. You have to have some sense of spontaneity too. And hey, you never know. It might just turn into something.

You've got to get out there and try and create opportunities, or the big picture will remain bleak. As ultimately the big picture is filled with the little things.
I don't want more than that, I have a kid to raise and shit that I'm more interested in. I realize this makes me a bad person in some folks' eyes, but I'd call those folks narrow minded. Do I enjoy companionship? Sure, I'm human. I just know what relationships take and I realistically don't desire to devote that many of my personal resources to one.

Thunderstone: It is better to be single than to be in a relationship with someone who isn't right for you.
I've always maintained that love without trust is a terrible situation to find yourself in. But yes, you're absolutely right. Circumstances take their toll too. It's better to just not be in that kind of situation in the first place as it's difficult to walk away.

Right now, I'm the same. Too many things up in the air to want any kind of commitment... at least until things are decidedly better than they are. But that could be many a month before I change my mind on that one. In the long run, if I met the right person and so on, sure. But it's just more hassle than I need right now.

Arianus: Now I get its a stupid Holiday but as some of you have said its an entire month of reminding those that are single that they have some how failed at life which I entirely disagree with and am happy to see a lot of you agree with me in this.

orcishgamer: If it makes you feel any better I am single and do not feel like I have "failed at life", being single is a valid choice and more and more men in their late thirties to mid fifties are making it every year. In the first world there's many extremely interesting things to do to fill up your time. Many of them are way more productive than the comparably unimpressive act of popping out another kid into an overpopulated world.
Oh, maybe I´m wrong, but I understood from another comments you made long time ago that you have kids and live with them... Is that true? Sorry if I bother you... No answer needed.
All you have to do is make February 14th the best day ever. Here are my plans :

I've got an order of new war board games that should be arriving that day scheduled to reach me at work. So while the ladies try to one up each other with whatever was bought for them (and seriously, that is what's going on there), I've got something better.

Then, I'm heading off to a shooting range to spend some time with a .357 magnum Desert Eagle.

I will then eat something involving steak and bacon.

Finally, I'll go watch an action flick...best night to do so, since every other poor bastard is stuck seeing something sappy pile of crap!

I do have a child and she lives with me half time, I'm divorced from her mother. My child is one of my other commitments and I don't think a new relationship takes precedence over her. Neither does it take precedence over shit I'd rather be doing;)

I prefer the S&W Model 60 (not model 16), 3.5 inch barrel (2.5 is too loud).

Yes, I agree with you. Anyway, in my country "single" and "divorce" are completely different words... You know, catholic faith and all that shit.

Ah fair enough, yes, you can call yourself either here. And divorced has a negative connotation to many so most will say "single".

Those are some excellent plans right there. I salute you, sir.
