Well I used the support option with Cossacks, but there was no answer whatsoever that could have helped me out.
With Nox I had not time contacting the support. I only tried the most common fixes that GoG suggests if there might be a problem, but to no avail.

The only game 'I can think of that caused me grief in recent times was Rage, as it didn't like ati cards. It was 100% playable, it just looked like rubbish. The last problems I had with games were disc checks, but since I no longer have discs, they are gone to. (Fallout 3 refused to find the disc 4 out of 5 times!)

As for disc checks, the only compatibility issues I've had have been with Starforce games and 90s-era SafeDisc checks. They still work fine on the Win98 PC they were designed for and on my modern PC it's nothing a crack won't solve. It's a given that DRM is going to cause similar headaches for games today when they reach that age, regardless of the system they're played on.
Other than that, I've had problems with pretty much every game I've bought in the past on release: The Sims 3, GTA 4, X-Blades, Skyrim to name a few.

I agree.
It's only a hassle if:
You pirate. (cracks, patches and all sorts of problems)
If you buy digitally chances are 99,9% you are good to go. In my experience that is.
Of course, if you are trying to run old games on modern systems/OS you might run into problems. That's what dual boot is for. Or a VM. I don't have any of those problems.

The options are, well, options. I rather have more options and more "hassle" than be limited to a very restrictive system. Can't fault you for going the easy road, though. I find that different people have different levels of patience. And you have to like solving problems. This helps in heaps if you're an engineer.

I don't hate it, and I have been a PC gamer for 20 years. I just think it's common sense that the platform is a pain in the ass compared to other ways to play games.

Ever since Steam, PC has reached this "plug and play" usage that consoles have. Especially with Steam, most games even search the "optional settings" by themselves and I literally only look once at the options to see it working.

Way to derail a thread :P
Well I am still looking for a fix, can't find much. Might contact GoG support again.
