dr.zli: as far as I'm concerned I'm ok with the double turn, my warrior is ok too, mage still hasn't replied to my emails, only on my pm
avatar
stoicsentry: Ok. We will proceed like that then. If changes need to be made, I will adjust after the game. But the second turn should help compensate somewhat.

If your mage doesn't respond, then, as the captain, you may move for him until he does respond.

If a player drops out of the match altogether, there will still be 3 GOGs distributed among the winning team.

Whenever you're ready, you make take the two turns.
conversing with my warrior, I guess mage is asleep so we'll wait for our two turns until tommorow :P
My suggestions for future rounds - missile weapons for rogues, you can't attack and tank at the same time and lightning hits only one target. More to come...

All under consideration, thanks.
more refined rules = more fun and more headache for the GM /o\

Indeed LOL!

Oh BTW Dr. Zli, you can't attack and tank at the same time already. :)

+1 for the round order 1,2,2,1,2,1,2 etc
I think simultaneous round action resolving will work fine.
RULE CHANGE UPDATE

Apologize for the late change to the rules, but I feel it is minor but also necessary.

DRINKING A POTION NO LONGER REQUIRES YOU TO SKIP YOUR ATTACK/SPECIAL ABILITY PHASE. It is too small of an HP difference to make up for losing your attack/special phase.

Therefore, the updated rules are:

1. Move.
2. Attack or special ability.

Any time during these steps you may exchange an item (for now only potions) with a teammate provided you are on the same space.

At any time, you may drink 1 potion per turn.

I forgot to update that WhiteElk used Arc once, so has 2 uses left.

Oh another community contest? You're awesome man. Too bad I was late though, haha..

Looks interesting too. Role playing? Nice.

Good luck to everyone. :)

(BTW, I loved my prize. The Witcher was freaking awesome!)

Great, glad to hear it!

Yup. We are having a little RPG kind of thing going on here. Already a few bumps in the road, though. It's a testing round at this point, but I'll learn from it.

I think the biggest balance issue was the small board. It gave a game winning advantage to the first team to move. And now the in-game correction swings the advantage to the team which gets the double move. I think a bigger grid would have removed the first turn advantage.

What do you think of playing 'best out of three'? We play three games, the team to win twice wins. This way we have opportunity to iron out some balance issues. While giving Stoic more opportunity to refine his game?

I've other thoughts on units, abilities, movement and more. Heh this is RPG combat, the options are endless! There are many options for this type of game. Far too many to fit in any one game. So I'm for refining what we have in order to learn what we can... but if were to play a 'best of three', I think we should increase the size of the board.
I certainly agree our contest can't be solved in one game only. Best of three sounds quite good. I think next time we could try on 6x6 with both teams choosing their abilities at once and actions will resolve in one moment.
I like your suggestions WhiteElk. The larger board was something I was thinking about too. Either way it seems like someone would be able to land the first blow, so that's a bit of a problem. BUT, with the bigger board, that would prevent teaming up against one character because I can spread the characters out.

I also like the simultaneous move scenario that has been brought up, but that adds quite a level of complexity.

You know what I'm going to do, I'm going to let this round play itself out. I know there are serious balance issues currently, so instead of the 3 GOGs going to the winners, I'm going to award them at random using random.org (to pick 3 people between characters 1 through 6). I don't want anyone to feel slighted. Then next round, the winners will get the GOGs.

Then when the round is through, we'll have a better idea of the balance issues and I'll make adjustments. I hate to change something like that out of nowhere, but it does seem necessary so that no one feels slighted.

One point though, is that there are always going to be balance issues. I think that's just the way it works. If you look at something like Starcraft 2 with a multimillion dollar budget and a team of developers, there are STILL balance issues. So I think we need to just accept that there will always be some, but I will do my best to weed them out after each round.

Another thing, I can't implement everyone's suggestions, even with time to prepare next round. You all make great suggestions but 1) there's conflicting suggestions, 2) there's a limit to what I'm capable of here, when I haven't tried it out.

So again I do ask everyone to bear with me, let's have fun and see how it goes.

Lol. :P And I actually thought I had it!

Hey. I best get a spot when you do this for real. I think its an epic idea and that you should find people to do them. Even if just for fun.(I'm still taking part in this one! You shall not win Blue Team!)

Everyone involved in this round is automatically welcome back for the next go around if they want.
