cogadh: Actually, after further consideration, I'd have to say the site update/end of beta would be the most likely birthday event. I'm sure there will be a sale or promo of some kind to go along with it, but the past statements GOG has made regarding the "GOG 1.0 update" would seem to indicate they have been planning it to happen sometime soon.
I seem to recall that late last year they talked about a "major site update" coming "this spring" in an interview somewhere. That time has come and gone, so I'm guessing that if it's been delayed, the anniversary would be a good time to launch it instead.

Wishbone: That would be when pigs start flying ;-)

Miaghstir: Swine already flew.

What an absolutely horrible pun :-D

They never said the update would happen "this spring", but in an interview that was published early this year, they did say it would be coming "this year" (in that same interview, they did mention big publishers coming "this spring", which turned out to be Activision and Atari). We're almost two thirds of the way through the year and I can't imagine a site update being held off until the holiday season (you remember how bogged down the site was last holiday), so it would only make sense for it to happen on or around the birthday.

I'm saving for this for over a month already... :p
I'm expecting a sale and the site update; but a publisher like EA would be a giant plus, of course.

Zeewolf: Maybe we'll get TWO games that week? ;-)

Heh. Funny guy. :p

IIRC they said the latter half of the year. To me there is just two good dates to do it: GOG's 2nd birthday or the holidays.

I think this is the one I was thinking about (3 page interview):
"From the functionality side – we are planning a major update of the whole site for Q1, but it wouldn't be a surprise if I'd list all the changes here."
I'd like to see a promo like this in September ( and of course in December )

lowyhong: If Hell freezes over on Lucasarts' arrival, what about EA?

The cosmos would collapse under it's own weight.
Be nice to see a buy 1 get 1 free type sale.
Everyone gets a free car and a washer/dryer set! :D

Oooh! I need a new car!
Wait, you didn't say "new car", you just said "free car". Aw crap, that means we're gonna get a free shitbox on wheels.

- cleaned wish list
- a completed Sierra catalogue ( city building series anyone ? )
- new free games
- new publishers ( EA, LA )
- more adventure games

Add:
- review contest
- hidden gem of the year
- better support
- improved servers
- official windows 7 support
- games explorer fixes! its a mess now!
Honestly, I'd just like to see the few issues that the site does have sorted out.
GOG's a great place, but there are problems popping up. Tech Support's apparent complete lack of response for the past little while is definitely troubling. And there are problems with the forum software that I'd like to see sorted out (A quoting system that isn't completely insane would be nice. lol).
Eventually, I'd love to see a return to multiple game releases and the like, but until the whole Support structure is back in place and working, I just think that would potentially cause more harm than good for the moment.
strippers. no party is complete without sexy strippers.
+1 rep for each game you own.
I"m hoping for a "buy one get two free games" mega blow out. That would be so awesome that it would hurt.
Also, it'd be rad if they could bring back some of the games that have been pulled from the service.
