Cook: Thanks to everyone who took part in our small poll. We have to say that your reaction to the question was quite impressive. Once again thanks a lot!

Did you make a decision yet?

It's not a matter of making a decision. We were wondering if expanding GOG beyond PC games is something our community is keen on. Now we have to discuss this internally, see what are the options and maybe start taking steps in this direction. As you know there are still loads of PC games that we'd love to re-release on GOG and that's our main goal. As for other platforms time will tell :)
I am ready to lose my heterosexuality to gog staff if you add dreamcast games.
My main reason for wanting to pay something for Amiga or C64 games, is that I might not have had them as originals , back in the day - so this is to get SOME cash back to the authors .. Such a service does not exist on the web today I think. Putting this under the GOG umbrella could be an idea ..
Buying downloadable and properly emulatable (as I dont suppose they could be burnt and run on a standard console?) outofprint PS1 games would also be cool. Ditto Arcade games.

I got turned on to this by Viggles, the developer behind Boxer, because he's now using OpenEmu with Boxer.app!
So, as I looked more and more at OpenEmu, I got to thinking, "What if this were to be a big part of GOG.com's possibly branching out to legal ROMs, especially given that GOG.com users do not strictly use PCs to game on per se?" Especially if OpenEmu were to acquire emulator cores that they don't currently have, the potential of this is astounding for us Mac gamers.
So, how did the internal discussions at GOG.com go on this subject? I personally would love to see legal ROMs available for sale here, in order to give at least some money to the great game companies that helped form my gaming childhood, or for those games I never quite discovered, much like many of the PC games that are currently available for sale on GOG.com!

If we ever do see emulated non-PC titles on GOG, it will probably not be for at least a few years. I would be surprised if serious discussions about whether to pursue this at all have even begun, let alone been concluded - as Cook says, PC games are the focus right now.
My impression is that this poll was borne as much out of curiosity as it was out of forward thought - the team probably saw a lot of responses to the first poll about non-PC games, thought "that might be cool" and batted it around the office for a bit, then opened this thread. We shouldn't read too much into it.

Which ones won? :D
EDIT: Uh, sorry. Apparently there was already a plenty of replies with the same content.

RottenRotz: Why no Nintendo on the list?!?
Because Nintendo would never in a million years sell their games here.

A better question would be: Why the hell did you post here when the poll ended in June 2010?!?
