bansama: Wait, are Blizzard finally releasing a new game? That's news to me.

no they're rehashing old games again don't worry hell doesn't need the heating turned up yet

Aatami: Am I the only one who is completely uninterested in Starcraft?

Nope.

It's amazing how people manage to judge a game before it's even out. In fact, it's pretty funny how sheep are hopping on the Blizzard-hate express before its even left the station. Just for future reference, hating something popular doesn't make you cool, it just makes you a hipster. And nobody likes hipsters.

Some people just have to hate something. Let them be. Just enjoy your time playing the game (if you do).

I won't get the game for 24 hours. The curse of being in a bad timezone for midnight releases + a job that ends at 5 PM. But I know I will enjoy the game when I finally get my hands on it, as I loved the beta. Like SC1, I imagine SC2 will get better with time, as people come up with better and better maps using the map editor.
Holy shit, I should probably start waiting outside of my local GameStop now. Also, I'll be waiting to see if someone downgrades their $99 purchase to a $59 purchase so I can snag one of the fancier editions they shipped in.
Also, these men got it before we did, and their excitement is exciting to watch.

I really want to watch that, but I also want to enjoy the experience of opening the CE myself without spoiling it for myself by watching the video.
Delayed gratification is winning, but just barely.

Nah it's Activision's game

An experience, not unlike defusing a bomb. Don't use the water cannon.

=P
Amazon just informed me that my order shipped. I'm very excited.

Also, FUUU FUUU FUUU*K, they're selling the CE edition here for R$499,00 (equivalent to US$282, plain bullshit, since in the US the CE costs only US$100).
So I'll wait and hopefully be able to import the CE... and sadly pay for shipping.

PoSSeSSeDCoW: If people are getting it when their timezone hits midnight, it's a staggered release so I don't think there will be a significant problem.

Yeah, I guess Battle.net won't be hit thaaat hard, of course it will have a hit anyways but not that strong because of the sparse midnight launches. And remember that the digital version unlocks only 10 hours after launch.
avatar
Navagon: The only difference is that I'm fairly sure Blizzard will release the third episode eventually.

Agreed, I'm fairly sure Blizzard won't go off schedule like that other company did... that other which did so many promises about episodic gaming.

Did Valve ever say when episodes would be released?
Sendit has the original game for 35 pounds and the collector's edition for 70 pounds. 35 pounds is a great price for the regular edition. The other one is still a little too expensive for me now. I just HOPE that one will be available when I get the money.

Did Blizzard set exact dates for the two expansions? Not that I know of, probably 18 months; anyway, I wasn't talking about dates but promises.
I don't remember if Valve said exact, solid dates. But they made the promise and spread the word that episodic would be great for gamers, this way they could cut development time and not take 5 or 6 years like HL2 took, bla bla bla. And I got pissed at this, as a gamer.

Hmm the CE for 70 pounds = US$108.32. But the US and UK contents are the same?
The regular edition will be available for a long time I guess, and if they ever run out of it, there's always the download version. ;)

The contents are the same, and yes, the regular edition will be available like 5 years from now, but the collector's edition will not. Well, at least not for <1000 dollars.
