I just started using DD platform for over over 1 month now (started Oct31), and I have already purchased like 50 games (including some bundle games)... I can't imagine if this goes on how much I am going to spend even though I don't have time to play. Most of the games are cheap that's the reason I buy them, and I tried my best to resist by reading negative reviews, but sometimes it's just very hard.
Set a limit on spending, not much else you can do other then good old self-control.
It is hard to resist....

I uses reviews to convince me not to buy. Also, I know that the $40 "gotta have" game that is on sale for $20 will eventually be $10, then $2.50 a year from now in the next Christmas sale. Unfortunately, that is often not enough to soften my backlog. So, even at 2.50, if you know you are not going to play it you can bet it will be on sale again if you really want to play it after getting through your back log.

Another strategy is to buy the full priced game when it comes out, after doing some research. Sure, I spent $40 or $50 on one game, but that blows my "allowance" and forces me to get my monies worth from the game. I just did that with Distant Worlds from Matrix Games, it was on sale though, but not a sale price we are accustomed too. This was after buying buckets of GoG games on sale. :-) ... yeah, it is a sickness.

Sales will always happen.

You'll get deals this good at least twice a year from GOG, it seems.
You can spend all your money on buying me games then you won’t have any money left to buy yourself games. It’s a win-win solution.

LOL - brilliant! What game do you need?
Put "Buying Boycott!" under your name and hope for the best!

It kind of works for me.

Make yourself a spread sheet.

Wanted Games | Unplayed Games | Unbeaten Games | Beaten Games

1) Track the totals to convince yourself you really don't *need* any more games. (Unless of course the only columns that have games under them are "wanted" and "beaten")
2) Set a minimum time (a few days would be good, 12 hours might barely be enough) a game *must* be on your "wanted" wanted column for before you buy it. See a game on sale? Don't buy it unless it's been on your wanted list for long enough already.

What if Gog released a game called Boycott?
Maybe take a good hard look at your credit card bill?

There's really only one solution I see.

Buy them all. Then you won't be tempted to buy any more.

Most of the following advice has already been given, but here's my own take on the matter:

As someone who's just discovering digital downloads as a major source of cheap games, the most important thing is to understand that there is no urgency to buy anything. The download services are pretty good in creating a sense of urgency by offering great discounts for very short times, but - contrary to games that are physically sold - the merchandise will never sell out. This means that every game that's on sale right now will be on sale again at some point in the future, possibly for a better price because it's then older. So the real question you want to ask yourself is: Do I want to actually play this game until it goes on sale again? If the answer is yes, buy it. If the answer is no, wait for the next sale.

I'll whip out the thesaurus in such an event.
