If you hate Gabe Newell, you get +100 rep.

tinyE: Whatever you do don't ask for anything in the gifting threads. :D

011284mm: Now how did you get back to 440 rep?

As tinyE and many others show, if you do ever fall under a rep attack if you just stick with the community then the bullies will leave you alone.
I asked for something. :P

When someone ask how to raise their rep our 1st question should be why, and I speak form experience as someone who really used to care about it and still gets shit for that. :D Worrying about your rep is like worrying about your pet rock.

You should know I pop in on my parents once a week to check up on my pet rock. For some people these are the things that are important, and there you go picking on me and my rock.

hedwards: Giveaways are a way of buying rep.

IAmSinistar: That's a bit cynical, no? Speaking for myself, I give away games for reasons more substantial than watching an arbitrary counter rise. :)
Some of us actually give games because it makes other people happy and therefore our own happiness is increased ;-D But hmm, maybe I'm gifting for the wrong reason! ;-p
I put a couple of books under my monitor, now my rep is 4 inches higher.

I'm just saying, that's the easiest way to raise your rep. I have no way of knowing why people gift things in that fashion. Personally, when I give things away,it's usually anonymous.

My giveaways are usually centered around a theme that encourages creative participation. The game is just a reward for playing, and it's fun to compete in a friendly manner. Can't speak for others, but fun community-building is my primary motivation for giveaways.

By reaching higher, I guess you managed to reach the stars (well, star).
I have giveaways because my backlog is too long for me to purchase games for myself. So to get the wonderful feeling of purchasing new games, I have to hold a giveaway.
I did a giveaway last year to commemorate the Titanic (Capsized). Everyone thanked me for the free game and no one chastised me for making a mockery of 1200 people drowning in the North Atlantic. :D
Prepare for a lot of -1 for no reason.
I didn't do anything bad and probably already lost 30 rep since registration. :'(
Clearly the takeaway from this thread is "Raise your rep in the air, and wave it like you just don't care!"

I'll downrep myself now.

Maybe they thought you were commemorating the movie and the unwarranted drowning of DiCaprio. ;)
Post pictures of a mouse having sex with a dead mouse in a trap.

If it wasn't for the movie, most of the people here wouldn't know what the Titanic was.

LOL
Pass some here instead XD
Or give something to that poor -140rep guy.

Anyway there should really be a hater\troll list or no way to downrep at all to avoid the mess.
