Sometimes, before you write or say something, it would be best if you knew the issue you will be commenting. That way you won't sound ignorant and/or stupid :) Concerning your statement about downrepping me, be my guest, I couldn't care less about my rep :D

Yeah, but there are people who have something of worth to say, and they feel bad when they are being "bullied" just because they said something that is not popular.

I am not talking about me, of course. I lost so many rep lately I couldn't count ;P But I don't like the fact this forum turned into some rep wars lately, driven by people who give nothing into community except their minus buttons.

Not long ago, this forum was a place where people could argue over hundreds of topic and nobody was downrepped. People discussed.

I remember dozens arguments of me and SimonG, and they all usually ended with peace. (but nobody changed their minds of course).

Now it's less and less possible, because little goblins have to add their minus war to every conversation, like biting other's ankles.

It doesn't do any harm, iIt's just annoying, like mosquitos buzzing near your ear.

Like it or not, not everyone will agree with everything you say and every opinion you have. That is because each and every one of us is an individual. You need to stop worrying if people neg rep you. If they choose to neg rep you, there is nothing you can do about it. It is what some people do just for the hell of it.

If I get neg repped, I really do not care one way or another. You should do the same. I do not chat here often, but I do stick my oar in if I think I have a valid point to make. I guess I am just one of those people who are not all that bothered about it.

None of what you just wrote matters because for the 4th time it's not about the rep issue it's about his attention whore drama queen response to it.

I think your response to the opening post was out of place, but I am willing to admit I am wrong if he had a history of drama over inconsequential issues (evidence of which you have yet to provide). Being open to the possibility of being wrong is the opposite of sounding ignorant and/or stupid.

I have no idea what opinions, personality and way of looking at things we are talking about here. Most people here have probably no opinion whatsoever on you, me, or each others. Also I don't do downreps. At all. Upreps and leaving bad posts "behind" are sufficient to me (spambots are moderated anyway), and I doubt that a vast majority of users downreps. Also, i'm not even sure anyone "fits" here. I gave up the idea of "fitting" : even on boards that had little popularity meters showing surprising scores, I didn't feel I "fit" given the amount of oppositions and diversity of users (I actually ended up exiling myself with a bunch of others at a time where I might even have been at the top of popularity metrics - it strikes me as odd in retrospect). So much for reps and the feeling of fitting somewhere. I think most people don't expect much in that department, and rightly so.

So, yes. Unnecessary drama. Even by my standards. But again, I think that looking for, or expecting, "communities" on the internet is a tad wrong. Hypothesis : "communities" mostly exist from the outside point of view.

Maybe he'd have less down voted posts if he'd reflect a bit on what he writes before posting. As a rule reading your post at least once before posting goes a long way in preventing misunderstandings and unnecessary arguments.

I can't be arsed to seek each and every one of his posts but browse older posts and you'll see him spin his drama quite nicely. There are people on this forums qho are cool and whom you should side with but sadly he's mostly not worth your time ;)

Have you considered that most of your down-repped posts might be the actions of one person? Not the whole community.

I could be wrong, but I thought it took more than just one -1 on a post to hide it from the community.

Yeah, finally! Now someone needs to resize the default window. Of course, coding it so the text box resizes itself with the window would be the ideal solution, but hey, I guess i can't want everything (also, it'll be even harder to post from a phone now.)
