jefequeso: Wouldn't it be better to just try and express yourself in a less offensive manner? I've gotten in plenty of arguments on this forum, hold plenty of minority views, have said plenty of stupid stuff, and have a personality that I'm sure plenty of people find teeth-grindingly irritating. Yet I've only had maybe 1 or 2 posts " go red." People only see someone as "the enemy" if they make themselves into the enemy, either by creating a legacy of posting useless or offensive content, or by expressing controversial opinions in an antagonistic manner. Don't just leave, ask yourself if there's anything you can change to remedy the situation.

Well, the older I get (even within the time I've been on this particular site) the more I recognize that there are a lot of topics that I'm actually rather ignorant about P. Also, that there are people out there that I disagree with but that are still intelligent and reasonable.

Frankly, though, it was a lot more fun back when I was 18 and knew everything :)

You seem demanding that everyone have a thick skin to hear a minority or offensive opinion but then think those expressing said opinion shouldn't have to have the same think skin.

Anyone can be an insensitive dick, as long as they're trying to "say something" and shouldn't have to hear anything back.

I get freedom of expression, trust me I do. But those +/- buttons are also expression, they are a different form thereof but expression nonetheless. You find them offensive, the irony in this is that you have been defending people expressing views, even offensively (or perhaps especially the offensive ones). You should be all for this.

I didn't downrep you. I only downrep spam. The biggest punishment for a moronic post is indeed letting the world see it, in my mind.

If people were replying to you, they were trying to communicate with you. The only people who have problems with rep are new folks who come in and demand everyone act as they think they should or people who are consistently nasty. You can't help but have 100s of rep after a year or two posting here. The community was here already, either be a part of it or don't, that's your choice. It's not your choice to change it (which I think you've gathered).

But you know, this is the internet, there are a few mischievous trolls, even here. And you so obviously got trolled, bud, not by people who were trying to communicate with you, but by one or two folks with a few sock puppets that saw you were being oversensitive and responded by kicking you.

And now you're setting yourself up again to be another woe-is-me target. Leave or stay, you might want to think on that last sentence a bit, it'll probably make the internet a more fun place for you in the future.
Oh, hey, we also found one thing that we agree on! Guess it was bound to happen some time. Shakespearean monkeys and all that :P

When I was thirteen I thought my father was stupid, but by the time I was twenty, I was surprised how much he had learned in seven years :)

I just think it's weird that I haven't gotten a single plus or minus, that I know of, the time I've been here.
I've got several "good post" replies, and I can be snarky, so I would except something.

Don't be defensive and take that as a put down. It isn't. It is a really good book loaded with helpful information for anyone wanting to improve their people skills. I enjoyed reading it myself and hope I've learned some things from it too.

I hope you will take this well intentioned advice, get that book and read it with an open mind and benefit.

I feel I have to post one more time because it seems a lot of people don't get my first post in this thread.
I"m not leaving GOG general discussion. It is a wonderful place of giveaways and interesting threads that have much information on one of the things I love in my life(games). In my opinion, this forum is the #1 place to go to for gaming related information. The gaming deals thread alone is priceless. I'm just not going to share my thoughts anymore(after this post) because there is nothing to gain from this except a headache due to me being unpopular. I do not get off on offending people or making people angry etc. FYI once I was like a lot of you guys. Reading books like the Art Of Seduction etc. Very polite in an American kind of way, always making sure, every word that came out of my mouth or on the internet from me, didn't offend anyone except maybe less than 1% of the population. Always pleasant to be around. I'm not a young person. 10 years ago I was in the Army. Then one day, I totally started understanding this quote.

"It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for something you are not." and this is how I live life now. Everything has a price in this universe and being yourself is not easy because freedom has a price. People will be nasty to you if you don't bend to all their expectations or behave different. That is human nature, unfortunately. I think bullying people is wrong though and would like to see it end. But "It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for something you are not." so yeah, I'd rather get bullied then not be myself. All of you who didn't down rep me, recently, please have a nice day.
