A perfect mix of tower defense and RPG, now both in fantasy and Sci-Fi flavor!

Defender's Quest, an addictive mixture of tower defense and RPG set in a world shattered by mysterious disease, is available 83% off, on GOG.com. That's only $2.49 for the next 24 hours!

Did you ever want to have special psychic powers that would let you toy with souls of living human beings and bind them to your will? Please don't answer. Azra, the Royal Librarian, never asked for such a thing. In fact, she never asked for any of the ordeals that fate put her through. But--willing or not--she's become a hero and the future of her homeland depends solely on her. All because of her suddenly discovered ability to turn her companions into etheric specters and command them like pawns around a battlefield existing outside space and time. Wanna hear a secret? She's starting to enjoy it.

Defender's Quest does many things that many games fail to do. First of all, it's a tower defense game that never gets boring. That's mostly achieved by mixing in many RPG elements. That leads us to another thing that this game gets right--mixing genres. Nine times out of ten combining so very different gaming philosophies will backfire. Here, we've got the lucky number ten, that managed to hit the sweet spot and emerge as a perfect and seamless combination. The gameplay here is just as much enjoyable and intuitive, as it is fresh. The brilliant, unforced humor serves as the cherry on top. You'll be enjoying this game for hours. Be warned, though--it's quite addictive! The game comes with a full MP3 soundtrack and an official mod turning the original fantasy campaign into campy Sci-Fi flick.

Answer the mysterious call, grasp the mystical power, and face the ominous force that plagues the Valley of the Forgotten. Are you prepared for hours of enthralling gameplay? Get your copy of Defender's Quest, for only $2.49 until Thursday, February 20, 10:59AM GMT.

UPDATE: There's a lenghty browser-based demo of the game RIGHT HERE (with the option to export your progress into the full version).

Nice promo but I have the game already and enjoyed it very much.
I liked the game, have yet to go at it a 2nd time, though (too many other games to play).

stressthesky: I don't usually like tower defense games, but I really enjoyed this game and also Defense Grid: The Awakening. For this price I'd heartily recommend it to almost anyone. Although getting 100% in this game was way too hard for me. There's a couple of gold stars on NG+ I'm sure are downright impossible.
I'll eat my Mac if someone here has been able to ace the secret "Sheep of Doom" level in NG+.

Believe me, this one isn't really hard. :D

Then eat it :) As I said before I scored 201 gold stars, meaning beating every level (including NG+) with a perfect record :) I'm sure I'm not alone who did it. And as triock said, sheep it's not that difficult. Remember that knights, unlike berserkers, are hitting only one target at a time but they can deal massive damage.
This has been on my wishlist for quite a while now. It wasn't a high priority but after seeing the promo and playing the demo a bit, I had to get it. Thanks for the promo, GOG!

Chebwa: I wanted to like this game, but there is absolutely no challenge whatsoever here. Once you beat a level and have the layout figured out, you can replay it in a matter of seconds for essentially unlimited experience. The only thing that could make this game easier is a giant clickable button at the top of the screen that says "WIN NOW."

Tower defense is one of my favorite genres, but I need at least a modicum of difficulty when I play. Skip on this and look into one of the many superior titles available online. There are too many good games out there to spend your time with this inflated tech demo.
You judge the game too quickly. There just isn't enough experience available in the early levels to make repetitive grinding worthwhile. I guess if you really want to grind those first few levels for thousands of hours, you might be able to get somewhere, but that's true of many classic RPGs as well. Bottom line, the game is actually quite well balanced. You have to play more than just the first few levels to discover that, though.
Note (especially in response to those saying "too short and easy"), consider your first play through one really long "training mode" and the so-called "new game plus" to be the REAL mode.

It also has some of the most configurable difficulty options out there. You can scale your XP/Gold earning rate up/down basically however much you want, even down to zero.

They have the option of 300% xp in the options menu. Saves a lot of grinding. This game hit me the right way and I have spent hours playing it. Was well worth the money when I bought it awhile back. I think at $2.49 it's well worth it. I'll be buying an extra copy for a future giveaway.
Great game, totally worth it.
So much for getting anything done today, or this weekend for that matter.

Would you believe beating it in Hero Mode? Totally doable even without generics. I've gotten 195 gold stars with just the base 6 characters. Just missing the runaway ending on Extreme; the last 4 levels; and the final battle on Advanced.
This one totally got its hooks in me. Got it back during the infamous Jack Keane sale. Highly recommended.
First time I saw it: mm, generic tower defense, mediocre graphic.. I'll skip it.
Second time, in this promo: only $2.50? Ok, let's try the browser demo.. OMG I want it.. bought lol!
Awesome game. I bought it a while back and it is by far the best tower defender type game out there. The rpg elements is a little over half of the reason it is so good. The game play, music, and replayability is the other part.

I bought this again today to give to a friend and it is my first repeat purchase :)
