A perfect mix of tower defense and RPG, now both in fantasy and Sci-Fi flavor!

Defender's Quest, an addictive mixture of tower defense and RPG set in a world shattered by mysterious disease, is available 83% off, on GOG.com. That's only $2.49 for the next 24 hours!

Did you ever want to have special psychic powers that would let you toy with souls of living human beings and bind them to your will? Please don't answer. Azra, the Royal Librarian, never asked for such a thing. In fact, she never asked for any of the ordeals that fate put her through. But--willing or not--she's become a hero and the future of her homeland depends solely on her. All because of her suddenly discovered ability to turn her companions into etheric specters and command them like pawns around a battlefield existing outside space and time. Wanna hear a secret? She's starting to enjoy it.

Defender's Quest does many things that many games fail to do. First of all, it's a tower defense game that never gets boring. That's mostly achieved by mixing in many RPG elements. That leads us to another thing that this game gets right--mixing genres. Nine times out of ten combining so very different gaming philosophies will backfire. Here, we've got the lucky number ten, that managed to hit the sweet spot and emerge as a perfect and seamless combination. The gameplay here is just as much enjoyable and intuitive, as it is fresh. The brilliant, unforced humor serves as the cherry on top. You'll be enjoying this game for hours. Be warned, though--it's quite addictive! The game comes with a full MP3 soundtrack and an official mod turning the original fantasy campaign into campy Sci-Fi flick.

Answer the mysterious call, grasp the mystical power, and face the ominous force that plagues the Valley of the Forgotten. Are you prepared for hours of enthralling gameplay? Get your copy of Defender's Quest, for only $2.49 until Thursday, February 20, 10:59AM GMT.

UPDATE: There's a lenghty browser-based demo of the game RIGHT HERE (with the option to export your progress into the full version).

rampancy: I'll eat my Mac if someone here has been able to ace the secret "Sheep of Doom" level in NG+.

RWarehall: Would you believe beating it in Hero Mode? Totally doable even without generics. I've gotten 195 gold stars with just the base 6 characters. Just missing the runaway ending on Extreme; the last 4 levels; and the final battle on Advanced.
How the hell are you people doing this? Either I'm a complete dunce or you're the almighty gods of Tower Defence (likely both, of course).

Shouldn't you be making a video? Also, how did you post this!?
Wow, that demo right on the page sure does the trick. I was thinking, Why not, I'll just try the beginning, see what it's like. I'm playing enough games that I don't need to get a new one.

I should know myself better by now.

I don't normally go for tower defence games, but this one I'm really enjoying.

I'm posting this from my old iPod touch with a wonky battery. I remembered I should be making a video - that's when I realized I was chewing on the iSight camera. And I didn't realize how crunchy an Nvidia GeForce 320M can be. Maybe I'll try snacking on a 780M next.
I survived the KEANSOMNIA *salutes comrades* last fall to get DQ (too), otherwise this would be mine lately NOW. But a gift for a good friend is always a nice move I guess. :)

For the Sheep of Doom as you call it on Extreme. Here's some advice. Throw the dragon on the white sheep. (his fire speeds the sheep's progress by dropping the chill). Your Mage should have the 3x damage to sheep weapon and max chill. Need to keep moving the Mage to keep the Doom sheep in range slowed. Your barbarian and knight keep following the sheep every step. Keep the healer in inspiration range of everyone but the dragon.

Frenzy (max) every time in comes up. This is the only spell you cast as you actually become psi limited when the white sheep run out.

It may help to respec as area and spread attacks don't help your damage on the single target, so put all your points into the best single target attacks.

Supposedly 198 gold stars are possible without generics. To my knowledge no one has ever beaten the two endings on extreme nor the node just before the main ending. (I actually just beat the main ending on advanced tonight for star 196).
Made it after all. New copy coming up.

Chebwa: I wanted to like this game, but there is absolutely no challenge whatsoever here. Once you beat a level and have the layout figured out, you can replay it in a matter of seconds for essentially unlimited experience. The only thing that could make this game easier is a giant clickable button at the top of the screen that says "WIN NOW."

Tower defense is one of my favorite genres, but I need at least a modicum of difficulty when I play. Skip on this and look into one of the many superior titles available online. There are too many good games out there to spend your time with this inflated tech demo.

Buenro-games: No one is forcing you to exploit the game mechanics.
Part of the game is leveling up. The leveling up part of the game is completely broken by the very nature of the type of game it is. The "challenge" doesn't exist, which for me, makes it a waste of time. A game without any actual challenge is just a tech/engine demo.
