Right now I am looking at emmigrating. I am having to sell and get rid of about 200 books, 250 DVDs, 70 odd music CDS and about 200 pc games. Not to mention selling my PC in bits and my joystick, fish tank and all my other things.

But one thing helps to mitigate the pain. Pirate bay. While I have a decent number of my physical games available on GOG, I have hundreds which aren't. Many of them aren't available anywhere or I would have to pay dozens of pounds on ebay.

Pirate bay however has pretty much everything, all games, movies, music etc in one place. It's comforting to know that if I ever have a hankering to play Heretic 2, magic and mayhem or outpost 2. I will always have one source I can turn to if other channels don't consider it worth their effort. So once again, regardless of it's moral issues with regards to recent media, long live the greatest depository of media we have access to!

Hurry up and get more old good games GOG, (Have you ever considered moving into movies, music and books?) so I won't have to feel the guilt of resorting to pirate bay!

Why would you feel guilt for using torrents if you already paid for the games? Of course if you sell your physical goods you don't own them anymore so that's kind of weird logic. :P
I also treat torrents as my "local" copies of the games and a gaming museum.
Seconded, OP. As a nomadic worker myself, I can't carry that many physical items on my backpack, which is why I have rebuilt my whole videogame collection on both Steam and GOG. But for all the rest... PB.

I guess your right, I'm just trying to guilt gog into providing more games by threatening them with my own guilt . . . Erm. Something like that : )
BTW, anyone living in London, I have about 60 jewel case games as well as a few dozen books I am going to give to charity. If there are any gamers out there who would rather get their hands on them, lemme know.

(I've mostly decided to sell the rest to CEX, at an average rate of about 30 pence per game/DVD which is sad but, other than a handful I know are selling on ebay, it's not worth posting them all up on ebay as one can only post 100 a month)

I don't get it.

If you don't care about the CD/DVD/game boxes or have to get rid of them anyway, why don't you just keep the discs? You could easily fit all of them on 7 50-disc-spindles which wouldn't even take up half your hand luggage space on a flight. What do you need Pirate Bay for?

For a moment there, I thought you were going to say that Pirate Bay closed. Then again, not even police raids or trials can close these guys up.
They have been trying hard, but nothing can stop TPB ;d

Speaking for myself here, but it's very different to move from one point to another and living constantly on the road. "half your hand luggage space" is a lot of space under those conditions, trust me.

Because I have all the other things I need to live, laptop, clothes, personal items and gifts for friends. Also, at that point, why carry around just the discs, I may as well torrent them. The main thing about having all these games is having my personal, pretty, library. Dvd and jewel cases are a big part of that.
I also have other hobbies I have to make space for that I can't resort to digital form. If there was no PP, then I would have to do that. At some point, one just has to let it go.

Weren't they, at some point, planning to put their servers on zeppelins and have them fly over international waters? What happened with that?

I hope not, I really do. Having such a resource at the hands of every person with an internet connection is too important.

Awesome. You have heard about these 100% solar powered planes, right? I bet they are waiting for the technology on them to finalise itself into final commecially available models and then have servers on solar powered planes flying around non-stop. After that it will have to be PP satellites. I'd donate to that.

Erm I don't like sites like piratebay. They make it too easy to steal stuff and it does destroy industries.

CIA would shoot them down.

I don't see why put the blame on these sites. The problem most of the time isn't these sites, it's the industry itself.
