GameRager: "Aha, now we're getting somewhere." You say to yourself as you pick it up and look at the locked drawer. "Maybe....just maybe."
After staring at the locked drawer and thinking about it for approximately 5 hours, I decide that the ancient Greek method is probably not the best way of working out if the key fits.

Perhaps I can act if I think boldly about what I want to do...

Use small brass key with locked drawer.

OOC: I'll be away on the 22nd and 23rd (and probably busy for most of the 21st for unrelated reasons).

OOC: No problem. You will be able to post tomorrow, right? Just checking.

You try the key on the drawer, but besides being too small for even the tiny lock on the desk drawer...well, it just won't fit. No matter how hard you try to jam it in the keyhole it seems to be a no go.

"Hmm....." you grunt to yourself as you slip the key into your pocket and think about what to do next. "Well, I might as well keep this key in case it becomes useful later on...but what to do about this lock?"

OOC: You can try picking the lock with your pick......but if you find anything you might have to share it with Barnell[You can divvy up any spoils via mutual agreement, if the pick is successful and any loot is found, via OOC chat here or in PMs], as he found the drawer in the first place & seeing how he's in the room with you currently and all.

OOC: I don't think I have a pick... unless you meant use the brain spoon? :P And yes, I can definitely post tomorrow and will try to post the day after.

OOC: I checked the picture and it looks like it may fit in the lock....try it at any rate, if you want.
I try poking my brain spoon into the lock.

SirPrimalform: I try poking my brain spoon into the lock.
OOC: That's what SHE said....but anyhoo back to the main course people:

Contemplating what to do, you recall your youth and the days spent trying to break into the school snack machines to get free goodies here and there, and other assorted bits and bobs of petty thievery. Taking your trusty brain spoon in hand, you jam it into the lock along with an unbent paperclip you grab off the desktop......carefully you twist and pry, hoping to hit the right spot and possibly get at the "treasures" lying within.

"C'mon you piece of shite.....come to papa." you think to yourself as you fumble with your improvised pick set.....manipulating the lock's fiddly bits as best as you can while working ever onward. You are about to hit the last tumbler and get the blasted thing open when something goes horribly wrong. Suddenly the paperclip breaks off inside the lock, and the tumblers reset and jam somehow against the broken piece of paperclip.

"Shit shit shite." you grumble as you wonder what to do next. Sighing and looking at the lock in desperation you notice that the edge of the drawer is not flush with the underside of the desktop, and you can see the latch keeping the drawer locked. Grabbing your brain spoon once more you work it against the latch and try pushing it to the side, hoping against all hope. Will it work?

Success! The drawer is now open! Opening it carefully and with baited breath, your eyes scour the inside of the drawer as soon as it is laid before you.

Inside you find more of the same, for the most part.....blank forms and papers such as the ones you found on top of the desk are stacked inside the drawer, along with what appeared to be a small metal lockbox in between the stacks of forms.

"Now what could THIS be?" You wonder as you take the box out of the drawer and lay it on the desktop. The box itself seems to be made of iron, but is not overly heavy, and is approximately 10 inches(long) by 6 inches(wide) by 6 inches(deep). It appears to be locked, for all intents and purposes, as if mocking your recent win against the desk drawer you pried it from.

Further OOC: I'm surprised not ONE player so far has gotten the subtle influences i've been weaving into the story so far.

hm... I know what I should do... if there's a little army of those bastards behind the bookcase and they go mad for glowy purply lights, every crazy in this horrible place with enough wits to hold a pen should pick up a knife, I can shake my christmas bauble at the hole and when the fish come pouring out the crazies start stabbing. Makes a lot of sense.

I picture a room filled with knife wielding unhinged humans and otherworldly hideous writhing vermin, and feel a suppressed panic attack. I pace to the locked day-room door and pound on it calling for the doctor to return. I continue to mistreat door.
The door is still locked, and is too solid to knock down or pick.

But you try anyway, knocking on the door for all the good it'll do you. No reply is forthcoming from the other side. You start to wonder if the 6 of you are all alone up here(on the second floor).
Man, I'm going to have so much reading up here on Thursday.

Profanity: Man, I'm going to have so much reading up here on Thursday.
OOC: That you will.......that...you...will.
I'm going to Take a closer look at this barricaded door.
Does it open into the day-room or outward?

ooc: I'm getting a definite "Attack the block" vibe going on.
If these are the small things, I really DON'T want to meet the big ones....

OOC: If you look at the main map you'll see that the Day Room door(locked) opens onto the patient corridor/hallway. The Belongings Room entrance door also leads out into the same hallway but it's sealed shut. There is a door between the two rooms connecting them which is OPEN atm.

Now on to the examine of the Day Room door:

You see one of the other patients having what appears to be a panic attack as they pound at the door leading out. Walking over you try to ask them what's the matter but they seem too into trying to getting the door open to notice you for the moment. Examining the door you notice that it is indeed quite solidly locked. No amount of turning the knob produces any noticeable effect... the lock seeming to be too sturdy to pick open & the door(Made of a heavy & hard wood & covered in wrought iron scrollwork/lattice) too sturdy to knock down.

OOC: The door won't be open for awhile(several more irl days or so) yet. Just a head's up.
Since I’m in the Day Room I take a Quick Search of the Day Room then return to the belonging room. Exited to find out what is inside the look box in the drawer. Could it be a clue, a weapon or better yet more nudie mags!

oh great a locked box in side just my luck,

OOC: SirPrimalForm found a key earlier......Barnell could ask him via the thread or PM if he can borrow it though, it he wants to try it on the locked box.

I dunno if I hinted at it when the game started but y'all gots to cooperate to some extent sometimes to "win" the game, as it were. Part of this involves asking players stuff in-character and OOC, like for needed items and such.
