....Sigh this is a hard one to make I take it, both are so different yet so similar at the same time for me so who do you think is better, Michael Jackson or Freddie Mercury?

I don't know they just do seem similar, both are great singers, both made iconic singles like Smooth Criminal and Another One Bites The Dust, and meaning no offense both act sort of effeminate.

Ummmm, pardon me for asking, and please try not to be offended but...ARE YOU PEOPLE INSANE!?!?!
Michael was a fine singer and performer but Freddie was a god. He was beyond a god. Calling Freddie a god would be an insult to gods!

I'm not even that big of a Queen fan, honestly, but Freddie was everything and all things good about music, performance, and self expression all rolled into one. There is no Michael without Freddie because there is no pop music or stage grace without Freddie. Without Freddie, music hits an evolutionary road block, and it never recovers.

It's a dumb forced choice, but what the hell. I'd say Jackson.
He wrote his songs, his lyrics, and he was sitting in the studio producing his albums.

Jackson wrote SOME of his songs and did NONE of his producing; Quincy Jones did. Freddie wrote and produced EVERYTHING (with Brian May).

I agree with tinyE on this one. MJ doesn't even reach the same league of Freddie Mercury. So this comparision is a bit off. In other words: Freddie all the way!
