cogadh: Unfortunately, there is no actual soundtrack album, "A Kind of Magic" is the closest thing to it. Like AzureKite mentioned, "Hammer to Fall" is on "The Works" and "New York, New York" was never actually released on any albums or singles.
"New York, New York " is on the "Highlander (Complete Original Motion Picture Score)" CD which doesn't include some of the other Queen songs from the movie though. :p But even then "New York, New York" is not a complete song as far as I've heard.
I nearly bought the score when i was in Japan but I was a little low on money and not completely thrilled with the CD description, so I don't have it.

Elmofongo: Wow everone here loves Rock n Roll, poor Michael Jackson.
Well while MJ was king of pop, Queen weren't only rock. They were rock, metal, pop, disco plus they did all kinds of different stuff, you could say that anyone could find something of interest.

It was not just pop that he did he also did rock, soul, R&B, funk, disco, dance, and new jack swing.

I never even heard of that last one lol.

tinyE: While I fail to see how that is insulting anyone I meant no disrespect and I apologize for the post if it upset everyone so much. I will go so far as to remove that part of the post.

EDIT.
There, happy? You can put down your torches now, I come in peace. :D
I wasn't mad or offended, I just think it's insulting the other members by making them look like they didn't do much but fill in as the backup band for The Freddie Mercury Show. Obviously Freddie was the leader and main force, but the rest of the band contributed a lot more than like say Dave Groelhl and Chris Novoselik did for Nirvana . (or as another example the non-singing members of The Police)

I totally agree. I think I am more mad at myself for the way I phrased it. Of all the bands I could have mentioned with "Lead Singer Complexes" I chose the one that was absolute equality and never suffered a single line up change.
The Show Must Go On recording process

"Mercury was so ill, and could barely walk, when the band recorded the song in 1990, that May had concerns as to whether he was physically capable of singing it. [...] Demo versions featured May singing, having to sing some parts in falsetto because they were too high. When Brian May presented the final demo to Mercury, he had doubts that Mercury would be physically capable of singing the song's highly demanding vocal line, due to the extent of his illness at the time. To May's surprise, when the time came to record the vocals, Mercury consumed a measure of vodka and said "I'll fuckin do it, darling!" then proceeded to perform the vocal line in one take without problems."

I think that says it all...

A full length recording of "New York, New York" does exist (Brian May has it), but what appears on the score album is just the same short snippet that appeared in the movie.

I'm not ashamed to admit, I cried the first time I heard that song.

Yawn, I can't believe this thread is still going strong. Can we at least change the topic for a little while to something like "Hagar or Roth"?

"Dio or Ozzy"?

"Lemmy or God"?

Tsk tsk, your third example is a bit of an insult again! How could anyone compare to Lemmy? :p

Bother were amazing. I love their duets that leaked. I wish some masters were released.

I think Freddie proved how strong he was by not laying the burden on others. It was very emotional to watch the interview with Montserrat Caballé - she teared up talking about the moment when he told her he had AIDS and she asked him why he'd tell her and he said it's because she was a close friend of his. The only slightly negative interview I've seen about Freddie, was by major wanker U2 front-man Bono who was typically aloof. (then again, as I said, he's a wanker)

MJ was said to be a very kind and generous person as well - but sadly enough very naive and his childhood really caught up with him. It's more something to pity than to admire him for.

Hell, I only have to start thinking through the song in my head and I well up... Didn't know he did it in a single take. Bloody legend.
