With another release from the new wave of Atari titles hitting GOG.com's catalogue, we're answering another question - what game made you feel like a hero? It's Demon Stone.

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/forgotten_realms_demon_stone]Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone is an action RPG set in the world of Dungeons & Dragons: Forgotten Realms. Players take control of a party of heroic characters which include a fighter, a sorcerer and a rogue. Each of the characters have their own set of skills and require a different approach to the gameplay. The really cool feature of the game is that you can switch between your heroes anytime you need to fully take advantage of their abilities and perform deadly team attacks. Hack-and-slash gameplay and nice looking graphics are accompanied by enthralling story by R.A. Salvatore, great soundtrack and top notch voice acting. Action-RPG fans get another gem to their precious collection.
Looks interesting so thought what the hell ill buy it to cheer my day up. (work is crap today.)
Thanks GOG for another release.
I bought this when it was at budget at retail.

On Gog it's about ten bucks too expensive.

Only game disk I ever willfully destroyed just to get some measure of entertainment out of it. But hey, don't let me put you off.

Kunovski: weren't that great times when "troll" was just a troll?
amen to that!
Metascore again :

why " players" don't like a game

game sucks because of it's graphics ( " shiny graphics " syndrome , DX11 maniacs )
game sucks because of its control system ( can't play with gamepad , controller )
game sucks because of the publisher ( DRM, price )
game sucks because its theme
game sucks because its platform ( ew , it's a pc title )
game sucks ( because i only want all my games on Steam , .....etc )
game sucks ( it don't have at least 100 achievements , e-penis syndrome )

And the times when an "Internet Troll" was simply called an asshole.

When being a troll WASN'T cool. Good times.
I would say that calling this game worthless is a mistake. To me, this game epitomizes mediocrity. It's nice to have around for when you're bored, but it has nothing to recommend it above similar games, yet it isn't particularly broken or dull so there is no real reason to warn against it.

...it's like that cousin that you'd never really seek out to speak to, but you don't mind chatting with at a family get-together or wedding because they're mildly interesting conversationalists.

Coincidentally, fire and acid kill both kinds of trolls.

POLE7645: And the times when an "Internet Troll" was simply called an asshole.

Being a troll has never been cool, but I think you're both confusing content with label, here.

Trolls, as we know them today, have always existed. The asshole at work, the bully at school, the drunken moron who hits on your girlfriend, they're but different versions of the same dick-archetype. The internet has allowed people who don't normally fall into this category to explore such feelings, and I guess they find they like it. It's a sort of power. "Notice me! Notice me!", they cry, but we need only look down and whisper, "No".

As for the topic, I looked into this game a bit when it was new, though I never played it. I refused to pay full retail price then, but I think those 10 gold pieces could be better spent elsewhere now.

Runehamster: I have played this game extensively for the PS2.

The game involves three characters, a warrior, a mage, and a thief. They each have a variety of combat moves, like any other combo based fighting game, that can be triggered by a set of button inputs. These are fairly simple and straightforwards for basic combat, but the combination of interruptable attacks and insanely long and complex button pushing means those like me with poor reflexes are not going to be able to perform well in the boss fights.

Equipment and character upgrading are NOT in the form of RPG elements. Equipment upgrades are purchased with gold, which in this game is more like a score for the level - you don't actually 'spend' the gold, it just limits what you can purchase for your character. That being said, as I recall there is not much reason to do anything but upgrade to the next level, so you do not choose gear so much as unlock better armor and weaponry. You can, however, choose which area of your character's gear you upgrade next, which is a nice feature.

The storyline is meager to the point of being inconsequential. The character development is mediocre - there is quite a bit of banter between the characters in cutscenes, but I cannot recall much at all in the actual game.

The three characters do not provide the ability to suit your own playstyle. You MUST become acquainted with all of them and use all of them. There are stealth sequences (pretty well realized) for the rogue, areas where ranged combat is essential (the mage's venue) and other areas where there are so many melee enemies you are almost forced to use the warrior.

I didn't post this information in the review section because I did NOT finish the game. I've had it for years and I've never played more than the first few levels, because it didn't interest me. However, this is a robust hack-and-slash combo based title that is far superior to the LOTR series.

On a final side note, I was playing the PS2 version. I can't see this game working well on PC unless it supports a gamepad, and you have one. Of course, they could have converted it to PC use, but that seems uncommon for ports.
Thanks! Very informative.

Seems interesting enough, I might get it sometime when I'm in the mood for some hack and slash.
Never played it but I was never a fan of Salvatore. He was a little too generic and seemed to perpetuate the high fantasy tropes that the genre is detrimentally known for. Out of his many books the Drizz't series stands out for its intersting setting, however after he left the nether area I lost interest. I was never a fan of God among men types. Its like a power ranger kicking ass until his ass gets kicked then hopping in his megazord and then stomping on everyone.
Damn, finally a game I'm interested in and its at the price point I can't quite afford. Oh well won't kill me to wait till next friday
EDITED: barf. I deleted all this comment. It sounded (rightfully) too negative. ... don't want to spoil anyone's fun.

Is it sad that I am hoping that I'm not interested in this weekend's sale? I bought half of JoWood and then gifted already. My wife thinks I have a problem. If GoG had an app, I'd buy a smart phone.
