It’s a Steal!

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/thief_gold]THIEF™ GOLD is the definitive version of Thief: The Dark Project, the first game that introduced sound and light (or silence and shadows) as stealth gameplay mechanics, so there is no way you can sneak past this gem on GOG.com for just $9.99.

Garrett, the main protagonist in Thief trilogy, is one of the gaming’s most appealing hidden anti-heroes. Sure, he’s a thief (and a killer!), but he makes it up with sarcasm, intelligence, and rougish appeal. Thief’s surprisingly elaborate storyline throws Garret between a rock and a hard place where he needs to restore the political and magical balance of the city by using silence, stealth, and thievish skills as a weapon. The chaotic Pagans and technological Hammerites are preparing to tear the city apart in their battles with each other, and it seems that only a little judicious theft can keep these titani forces from clashing. No matter who's the employer and who's the victim, he plans to stay neutral and is always upholding his beliefs with a simple key principle: always get the loot.

In THIEF™ GOLD, you have a wide range of equipment at your disposal: a blackjack, a sword, lockpicks, holy water, explosive mines, flash bombs, and seven types of arrows to assist you on 12 treacherous missions in a steampunk-medieval metropolis called the City. The game’s FPS mechanics are a big change from then-traditional DOOMlike “shoot and run” to the unthinkable "it's quite amazing how much fun it can be to avoid action". The game received much critical acclaim (92! Metascore), with reviews ranging from “immersive gaming experience”, through “bloody good”, to the quite expected “my favorite game of all time”.

You don’t have to get your hands dirty to get THIEF™ GOLD from GOG.com’s secret stash for $9.99.

bazilisek: There are, yes, and cameras, too. But they mostly serve as security systems in the rich houses you're looting, and there are always regular human guards as well. They're not as prevalent as zombies in the first game.
So I should wait for Thief 2 release on Gog ;)

What about Thief 3? Zombies, spiders, anything?
Finally Thief appears here! I don't often buy games at full price, but for this series, I will probably fold and do so.

lowyhong: Meh. Looks like a mediocre game. Looks too dark from the screenshots, the graphics look like crap, and why does the main character rob graveyards? Pass.
Obvious troll is obvious ! :P

Thiev: Aren't Hammerhaunts present in all three games?
IIRC, there are like two or three of them total in T2, and another handful in T:DS in the catacombs of the Hammerite church. Nothing quite like the Cathedral.
Thank you!
True requirements are: 32mb of ram (better if 64mb), Pentium 166 mhz cpu with hardware acceleration or 200mhz without (better if 266mhz), 4mb svga.
P.s.
On my win 7 64bit system it run ok ;)

Zombies, check. Spiders, not sure, probably not. And bonus: the survival horror of the Shalebridge Cradle level.

Lexor: lol, why capital letters?

Even trademark of this game is not "THIEF" - this game is named simply "Thief".

Look at the bottom of this page: http://www.thief4.com

so?
Uuuu, I get it now! You're Linux-based! Your brain is incapable of exchanging upper and lower case letters! Well I guess that explains everything.

Firek: We should probably call it Th1ef, then.
That was straight inconsiderate of you! That's nowhere near lower case letters in ASCII!
It means no oridinary "stealing" game for me? :(

well, maybe The Sting! will suit me :P

Ps Why is The Sting! not present in gog catalogue? :/

"I have a special job planned for tonight."

Great release. Will definitely buy it on my next purchase.
Woohoo! Instabuy. Doesn't matter that I already have it on CD. I truly hope this will be fully playable in XP and Win7, including multicore systems with modern nVidia cards...

I said "bottom of the page". :) "Thief 4" logo indeed looks like Thi4f, BUT it is a logo* not product's name - look here at infos: http://www.eidos.com/games/thief-4 it is clearly typed "Thief 4".

So, your release should be still called "Thief".

*) You know that logo is something different than name, right? In the same way you have "gog" in logo, but proper name is "GOG".

Nope, I work a lot with marketing people so I know "some" of rules and guides. One of them is "know proper name of the things you are selling".
