Eclipse: wait, what enhancements? : O
KanoBlade: Stardock posted the following, which can be found here: http://forums.stardock.com/377352.
"Stardock is handling the support for Total Annihilation directly and includes a new launcher that helps automatically configure the game for modern systems, streamlines getting multiplayer games going and includes easy access to tips and tricks for getting the most out of it.
As part of Stardock's support for the game, it will be releasing subsequent updates (with Atari's permission) to further streamline multiplayer, incorporate Impulse Reactor and work with fan sites to incorporate new content into the "official" release. It will also be further enhancing the release to prepare it for eventual availability on other digital distributors. "
There's a button they put in the game to get you going on multiplayer with another independent website, but you don't need that to get on that site and start playing. That's all you get. So there's no reason to go with Impulse. I say that as someone who bought the game off Impulse myself.
In fact, people on GOG seem to be saying that they are hearing the (absolutely incredible) soundtrack when they play, and not mentioning having to modify anything to do it that I've yet seen in the reviews. On the impulse version, you have to fuss about a good bit to get the soundtrack to play. Which is quite a shame really, as the soundtrack is off the charts great in this game.
Epsilon: I'm very pleased to hear that the soundtrack is working ingame, the lack of that in the impulse version annoyed me greatly as it's a very good soundtrack.
This game miles ahead of something like Starcraft 2, and at just 5.99 with all the expansion packs it represents unbeatable value!
It really is. Starcraft was a big step backwards.
