Hear ye, all Zork lovers! On this fine day we present to you the second graphical adventure hailing from the Zork series. Let the rejoicing commence!

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/zork_nemesis_the_forbidden_lands]Zork Nemesis: The Forbidden Lands is a first-person perspective, point-and-click adventure game. It was quite different compared to its predecessor, Return to Zork. First of all, instead of showing a still image of the surrounding area, it creates a simulated 360-degree view, making it all the more immersive. Most notably, though, the setting is quite unlike any Zork game that came before Nemesis. It's much more sombre and serious, in stark contrast to the jovial, light-hearted spirit of the prequels. A sizable portion of the Zork fanbase preferred the old atmosphere and Activision heeded the call of the people, but Nemesis is, beyond doubt, a fantastic game in its own right.
Every Zork fan owes it to the series to experience a completely different approach to the classic setting.
Time for a small story...

This game was one of the few my granddad had when I visited him in Maryland. I was six or seven, still learning the wonders of electronic entertainment. As a fan of the earlier Zork games, he was eager to show me the latest one in the series. I popped it in and started, but I desperately needed to use the bathroom. I left the game unpaused.

When I came back, the screen was filled with skulls (at least that's what I remembered, the Game Over screen could be different). I had somehow died before I even had a chance to do anything. I had nightmares just thinking about what dark force might have grabbed me while I was away, and i did not play for several years.

When I came back to play the game, I was a little older and a little braver. Granddad's computer was still of the ancient variety, so I hopped right in and had a great time. Of course, my mother shook with unease and almost stopped me when I was tasked with decapitating a corpse. I'm almost positive my early interactions with violence accustomed me to seeing violent bits in movies and TV shows as humorous.

Anyway, this game is amazing. It has one of the best twists in a game, and if any one of you spoils it for the rest, you will be assholes for eternity.

You sir, have made me even more excited to sit down and play through the game. :D I am very intrigued as to what this twist is, so please no one spoil it for those of us that didn't get a chance to play growing up.

Roman5: Thanks GoG

maybe now a lot of people can stop whining about this game not being here :p
So how many reviews did you plagiarise for the review you posted? Have you even played Zork:Nemesis? I think not.
Yay! Zork Nemesis! What a fantastic game!

Is it the DOS version or the Windows version? Because I remember the Windows version having optional subtitles (and some bugfixes) but was way too fast.
Thanks GOG! However if you keep releasing all my requests I will have nothing to request anymore. I know bad problem to have, right?

Nemesis is not a Myst clone, not a typical Zork. It starts a little slow, so give it a chance before you give up. I say atleast get out of the first few chapters. The story is like nothing I have ever played. You will be truly in amazed with the sound and atmosphere. It was way ahead of it's time in alot of ways and truly has found a home at GOG.

If you are not good at these types of games, get the walk through and atleast go through it that way. It is still WELL worth the effort just to hear the story.

I understand this is largely rhetorical, so I'll answer for Roman:

the first paragraph is taken from , the second from [url=http://www.amazon.com/Zork-Nemesis-Pc/dp/B00004U8JA]here, the third and fourth from and the final one from [url=http://www.amazon.com/Zork-Nemesis-Pc/dp/B00004U8JA]Amazon again.

How did you do that?

Hmm, just checked through the links and compared it to the review posted and you're entirely right. :\

Just copying & pasting full sentences into Google. One of the first two hits is always GOG (Google crawlers are fast), the other is the source. Repeat until you have the whole thing.
Seems like it might be an interesting game, though I noticed that one has to be eighteen years or older to buy. I hadn't planned on buying the game, but I am curious as to why that is. TheCheese33 mentioned something about decapitating a dead body; does that have something to do with it?
Wishlisted for now...

Why would you poison the GOG review system? I don't understand what the point is.
Nice, GOG has included a high-quality scan of the diary that was included in the game box.

Be sure to download this when you play the game. It contains some interesting background information about the world and the characters and some hints that are necessary for a few of the puzzles.
