Hear ye, all Zork lovers! On this fine day we present to you the second graphical adventure hailing from the Zork series. Let the rejoicing commence!

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/zork_nemesis_the_forbidden_lands]Zork Nemesis: The Forbidden Lands is a first-person perspective, point-and-click adventure game. It was quite different compared to its predecessor, Return to Zork. First of all, instead of showing a still image of the surrounding area, it creates a simulated 360-degree view, making it all the more immersive. Most notably, though, the setting is quite unlike any Zork game that came before Nemesis. It's much more sombre and serious, in stark contrast to the jovial, light-hearted spirit of the prequels. A sizable portion of the Zork fanbase preferred the old atmosphere and Activision heeded the call of the people, but Nemesis is, beyond doubt, a fantastic game in its own right.
Every Zork fan owes it to the series to experience a completely different approach to the classic setting.

bazilisek: I understand this is largely rhetorical, so I'll answer for Roman:

Well, this qualifies you to become the next Secretary of Defense in Germany ... just don't get caught!

Patryn: Yay! Zork Nemesis! What a fantastic game!

Is it the DOS version or the Windows version? Because I remember the Windows version having optional subtitles (and some bugfixes) but was way too fast.
It's the DOS version running in DOSBox. I guess getting the Windows Version to run was too difficult. Unfortunately the DOS Version does not take advantage of hardware acceleration (DirectX) like the Windows version did. I don't remember if this results in a lower screen resolution or not.

Edit: I just tried it out. The game looks terrible in the DOS version. The still images (where you can rotate around) are always in low-resolution with no way to get high resolution at all. I cannot recommend anyone to play the game like this.

Dear GOG team: Please give us the Windows version. It should be possible to make it run perfectly with a few replacement APIs and a wrapper to keep the game from running too fast. The game looks so much worse in the DOS version!

Edit2: Hmm, After a little research I'm not so sure about the higher resolution thing anymore, I must research more if the Windows version really was higher resolution than that or if my memory is playing tricks on me. I remember the game looking better, but maybe I'm wrong...

Edit3: After playing the game for a while I am now pretty sure that it never looked better than that and I simply misremembered. At the time they simply had to make a compromise between high resolution and the smooth rotation.
I also don't notice any missing effects or animations. One particular effect that may be missing is the whole screen wobbling after you enter a certain machine in the laboratory world, but I didn't get that far yet to confirm that.

If that is correct, the only disadvantage of the DOS version is that there is no patch to enable subtitles. This would be a nice feature for deaf players, so it would still be nice if GOG could give us the (patched) Windows executables as well.

Yeah! Instant-Buy! Now bring Grand Inquisitor. German Language would be great, because I know that the translation and Synchronization of this game was really really good.

Daedalus1138: Seems like it might be an interesting game, though I noticed that one has to be eighteen years or older to buy. I hadn't planned on buying the game, but I am curious as to why that is. TheCheese33 mentioned something about decapitating a dead body; does that have something to do with it?
The scene where you use the C4 to blow up the white house is pretty graphic.

You have no idea how offensive it is to steal peoples' words. I'm requesting GOG to remove the review.

I do wish it was possible to actually explain why we're reporting a review as far as the report function goes. Hopefully you can get it taken down cause it was incredibly childish of him to piece together multiple people's written reviews.
I'd also prefer the Windows-Version which offered some graphics features and improved sound as fas as I remember?! If GOG could get this Version here as well, that would be awsome! That said I'm happy with the DOS-Version – thanks to GOG that I can replay one of most atmospheric adventures of all time!

Roman5: Caught with my pants down

PhoenixWright: Why would you poison the GOG review system? I don't understand what the point is.
I assume posting a review still has a weekly draw for a free game.

Ugh, gross, Roman.
Maybe instead of removing Roman's plagiarized review, we should just have GOG insert proper source attributions into it at its end. Bazilisek should also get thanked for tracking down the various original sources of each full sentence.
