cheesetruncheon: I can't wait for the next consoles, more specifically the Microsoft one, not for purchasing it myself but one of the biggest problems we have right now, and admittedly Microsoft are working a way to make it a little better, is storage on the Discs. I read somewhere that the storage space on a Double Layered DVD for the Xbox 360 provides less space than a PS2 Disc, just because of the Xbox's Video and Security Partition.

Obviously more limited storage space means lower file sizes, meaning crappier voice files, crappier textures and the biggest problem, 6 hour games. and obviously we live in a time where all of the major developers put their games across three platforms, the one that's limiting itself causes limits for the others, limits that quite frankly, shouldn't ever apply to the PC especially now with Digital Downloads.
Agreed....ever watch the parody PS9 ads on youtube where the guy has a floating console sphere or some such? IMO that would kick some major ass.

I understand the rest of the complaints about small storage but "6 hour games" doesn't make sense. What about Fallout 3, New Vegas and Oblivion? They all seemed to fit fine and you can play them for 40 hours+. I don't really think the space restriction has anything to do with game length, it's a choice that the game developers make.

yes. but those games are the exception, and even they rely on recycling the same textures an obscene amount. and think those games have no multiplayer component. If you think, for example Call of Duty, it has to essentially have two different games on the same disc, the scripted linear single player and then the Multiplayer. Considering it's cheaper to fill one disc instead of using 2 and only using a percentage of the other disc a lot of games cut back on what they have in order to fit the Xbox.

Yes, because of space issues on non-BluRay games textures have to be reused in some areas of some games, and levels have to be smaller.....and some games even reduce the texture sizes slightly or sound quality to save space.
I'm on GOG, I love old games, but MAN do I want new consoles so we can get some better PC graphics. Why? Immersion.

While gameplay, story and other things are essential graphics are still a key part of games, because they are a key part of immersion. If you're like me you want to feel like you're really there, exploring and fighting in these mad worlds. Better graphics help that, which is why I will never say anything is "good enough" in the graphics department.
