I informed the ECC about that practice.

Please also do, so maybe they work faster if more people complain!

Also thanks for showing me that GOG users mostly don't give feces about region locks! That isn't the GOG it was when I came here anymore!

pimpmonkey2382: Well comparing video game censorship to mass murdering war criminals isn't the brightest idea to be had recently.
One started with "no access for jews", though, and the other with "no access to Germans and Austrians".

Do you see my issue? What to do as a German jew (I am not) about it? It's the same thing to me.

i know this is probably going to be controversial but here we go

The Nazis / Third Reich never really went away , they decided to conquer Europe through the financial system as opposed to the warfare method and they did an excellent job!

Look at the current EU setup...Germany is the daddy.

As for banning Nazi symbolism , i can understand that as its a bit of Germany's past that they would like everyone to forget

dude, don't argue with him.Protoss is like my brother, when he puts something in his head it's impossible to convince him otherwise.let him compare the fact that he can't play a videogame with one of history's darkests moments(especially german history).when the butthurt passes,he'll apologize for this incredably ridiculous thread and we'll all move on

I care about region locks. Most GOG users would of shown empathy towards your position if it weren't for some of the things you said. I think these people are overreacting though. Have a nice day. :)

Dude, just some advice. The sooner you stop, making this a war against Nazis thing, the sooner people will support your cause.

Well I have 2 types of tinfoil hats in stock. The ones that protect you from aliens and the ones that protect you from Space Nazis.
Hmm, interesting thread ;). As a german I also have problems wit our kind of indirect censorship. It is indeed an issue. But it was even WORSER in the past. Laws have changed and censorship in games is reduced.
However if it comes to nazi-symbolism in games there is a red-line, that can't be crossed. It's our past and it's not really understandable but o.k. Maybe in the future this will change. But if you really want to have stuff uncensored, there is always a possibilty. you just have to look for it. As long it is possible to get stuff uncensored I'll so no problem so far.

Protoss: Please don't mix up real, political situations with gaming experience. It's just not comparable.

You can't even buy it in Japan, Switzerland, Israel. But at least there you could get yourself an uncensored version gifted.

And don't come me with denazification in Israel! Tell me why jews can't buy their games!

Ehm, I guess because israel (jews) had bad experience with the nazi regime and japan was part of the "axis".

Everyone who wants it uncensored, can get it uncensored, so what's the problem ?

The problem is that this is not true, unless you refer to piracy.
http://steamdb.info/sub/41691/

See the marker "prohibitrunincountries", it is the same in all uncensored packages except Steam 2010 key.

So essentially one must buy a third party online game code, hope it is not a retail key, and then hope that Valve does not add that tag later.

It is after South Park the second title where I really think I should just pirate it because it is quite impossible to legally get an uncensored copy. If that is what Bethesda, Ubisoft and Valve wants, then ok. But then please change the laws in a way that Germans and Austrians can legally pirate stuff.
Not gonna risk jail for that as long as it is illegal. So I'll wait until I finally moved abroad. And then I don't give anything if they go extinct because I had to wait until the price is like 2.50 EUR for the game.

What happened to the EU free trade stuff where the EU had a single market? Why am I as EU citizen prohibited while a French guy can get the stuff legally? You want to know? Because our politicians are liars, that is! That pest of dividing the EU market goes away the earliest in 20-30 years when a younger generation overtakes politics. By then I'm dead anyway.

So, thanks to Ubisoft and Bethesda for telling me I too worthless to play your games and you don't want my money! I will keep that in mind when you release other stuff here! I can wait for the 90p off deals, can you too?

Not too concerned about Zekes, but the FBI... Know any venders for tin foil hats that protect against a combination of chem-trail and FBI satellite mind probes?

Hell, no. I meant VPN. It's against the SSA but if you be careful not to switch IP immediately after activating (wait a day or so) than you are on the safe side. It worked for Southpark, Saintsrow, Sniper elite, etc.

Okay this is the dumbest thing I read in a long time. It's not Ubi's or Bethesda's fault here. They are simply following the law. The problem is with the German government and their strange view on Nazi symbolism. Don't hate the publishers who are simply following what they are forced to follow. Hate your own damn government and tell them to cut that shit out.

Just FYI. NS-symbols were forbidden after the WW2 by the allied control council. The prohibition with few exceptions was later implemented in the criminal code of germany and austria.

But then again, we don't have those laws here in Switzerland (yet... at least) and not only we only have access to the LV version of the game... but also only to the German version even thought a sizable part of Switzerland, myself included, don't speak German. I doubt it's our government fault for that....
