Sorry for making it seem like that was aimed at you, it mostly wasn't - it was just a general rant at people who just complained about how ugly rage is because of general texture quality, even when it does work well. I'll never get why would people claim that general aesthetic of a game is ugly because of poor texture quality - that is the treatment Darksiders II got from PC players, yet it's one of the most beautiful games I have seen lately.

CthuluIsSpy: You forgot that the fact that the ending is really anti-climatic and unsatisfying.

gyokzoli: It cannot be worse than Mass Effect 3's ending. That's what I call bad.
Believe me. I've seen far WORSE than Mass Effect 3's ending. It's underwhelming and a disappointment, but it's far from the worst. I consider Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver (first one) to have a much worse ending. And guess what, it didn't made the game any worse.

I like the look of the Darksiders games. I think the graphics fit the style of the games well.

naytk: It isn't uncommon to feel betrayed by the storyteller. It's hard to say you like something created if you don't like the author.
But in a game like Rage, which clearly is in the reign of DOOM clones and not in the vein of great storytelling I find it hard to be betrayed by the storyteller. The story of RAGE has many moments of "are you kidding me?" and really bad storytelling before the end. And yet you continue, because it is just fun.

grinninglich: Thinking getting it for 5 dollars on Steam sale. What are you thinking about this game?
Not a bad deal. I found Rage really fun.
For 5 bucks I would buy it. I bought it for $20 on the 360 and I'm very happy with my purchase. I personally really enjoyed Rage. Seemed a tad bit short, but still very fun with a good story.

I didn't mind the ending either, but I also don't believe games need a big boss fight(I greatly preferred Halo: CE's warthog run ending to Halo 2's boss fight ending). Just don't make an underwhelming and really easy boss "fight"(I'm looking at you Fable 2). The ending in Rage was like the beginning, focusing mostly on a somewhat vague, but artistic cinematic. Still, you can infer what will happen after the cinematic and understand the consequences of what will happen.

I would have preferred that they showed more of a certain unseen character, even if it was just audio, but that was forgivable in my eyes.

I really enjoyed rage. It's slightly consolized but still wreaks of id shooter.

It should be said that I also liked Doom3.

I really loved the beginning cinematic. Oh man, that was awesome.

To be honest, with an intro like that, I expected a different kind of game.

I would agree. In some games, it's best to just call it story-lite and let it do whatever while we just enjoy the gameplay.
Go for it man - for $5 it's totally worth it
Ai, for 5 bucks its not a bad deal.
Great setting, voice acting, and graphics. I can't say much else about it, as I didn't spend a ton of time with it yet.
I've often wondered how well (or poorly) Rage would run on my 4 year old machine. I do pass the minimum system requirements, but only just. A lot of the high graphics settings would have to be turned off, but I'm not sure if the graphics settings in Rage work like that (I heard that they auto detect?).

I didn't get it on this occasion (but was tempted) as I have a significant backlog of games at the moment anyway, and if it has been on 75% sale once then it will be again, and definitely before I clear my existing backlog anyway. Still, would like to hear about how it runs on different people's systems, maybe even see some screenshots of how it looks on them too.

For reference, my main system specs are:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 (3.16GHz)
4GB DDR2 RAM
XFX Nvidia GTX260 Black Edition

My monitor has native resolution of 1680x1050 (16:10).

Runs fine on my Core 2 E4200, XFX 9600GT and 2GB DDR2 RAM, native resolution of 1600x900, and yes it auto detected - so it should run pretty well on yours.

It should be fine. Your rig is slightly better than my 5 year old machine, and Rage worked just fine.
