Thinking getting it for 5 dollars on Steam sale. What are you thinking about this game?

For 5 bucks I would go for it, i did for that price.

Its better at $5 then it is at $50.

It definitely doesn't suck. It got a lot of hate from PC gamers because it's a PC port from consoles by previously PC-only ID, and mostly because textures are ugly up close and it's got a fairly bad FOV. Oh, and graphics bugs on launch. However, as a game, it's a very solid shooter definitely worth playing, and for 5 bucks... Just get it.

You forgot that the fact that the ending is really anti-climatic and unsatisfying.

While it was a disappointment at first for most people I found it a really great shooter.
Only problem I have is the unresolved texture pop-in.

The shooting combined with great character animation is really great and satisfying.

Well boo-hoo, Doom's ending was anti-climatic and unsatisfying and no one seems to care. I don't really know why would people play Rage for it's story, it was ... Well, it was just pretty bad.

True, but Doom had an actual boss fight at the end, that was somewhat interesting.
In rage, you just had to fight like 7 mutants, that are fairly easy to kill at that point of the game.
Wingsticks + poprockets = dead enemies.

Under 5€ sounds fine to me, when they release a complete GOTY version for that price.

Also people, (errm, like me), considered this to be a game akin to Fallout 3. Which it isn't. It is a shooter. And a very fun one.

If you are good at shooters, play it on high difficulty. Not that difficult, but more fun.

I found the game boring, uninspired and clunky, but for 5 bucks I'd say go for it.

How a bad ending can retroactively draw the fun out of playing a game has always eluded me. And great way of spoiling the game for somebody who hasn't played it. How about posting a few gameplay videos or cheats while you are at it.

The problem is not only that, it has a lot of graphic bugs with ATI cards, and, even if is visually impressive (at least if you can config it to run properly on your computer) it has some weird port problems, like only allowing you 4 quickitems slots, but I got it for 6 euro and it's a great game for that price.

I guess it could spoil the experience if the game is very story driven, like an adventure game.

Here it isn't a problem if I had fun blasting stuff for some 10 hours, the ending can't change that.

It's definitely worth 5 bucks. I really enjoyed it, though that could be because I was expecting it to be really bad because of all of the reviews so maybe my expectations were low. I'll probably give it a second playthrough at some point. If I recall correctly, it's an incredibly large game for some reason, like 20'ish GB.
I actually got about 20 hours of play out of it, though some of that might be afk time. I did every single thing there was to do in the game, including all of the car stuff. One particular type of car race thing was frustrating at times. It's been a while since I've played the game, but if I remember right it was some race thing where you had to pick up these things that spawned randomly across the map, and it was entirely luck based as to where they would spawn, so sometimes you'd just get unlucky and have to do the whole thing over again until the spawns worked more in your favor.
