yes i am a pro downloader (boohoo) ,mainly for preserving. i dont need to beg for games.

Stuff like this gets posted on slickdeals, fatwallet, etc., that's where the vultures come from. These people are the equivalent of Groupon folks, almost none of them ever intend to be customers or give half a shit about whatever company is giving away free stuff.

And to the offended, yeah, I know maybe .5% of Groupon users are decent folks that actually repeatedly frequent shops they end up liking, but those few are in poor company.

Many here spam f5 when a contest happens that requires such or if they know a code is going to be dropped. This doesn't make them bad as I said earlier.....same with waiting for people to post codes.

As for evidence I meant post evidence he is using multiple accounts perse, or that when he begs with his main he does so for bad reasons.

whats the point in having 100 or 200 or whatever rep? those contests if thats what you are implying too only ask for a minimum of max 50 rep perhaps. i got the rep simply because i am involved on the forum (even though i am not much of a talker) sorry for that..

What the fuck is with you people & this bad person garbage? I never said anybody was a bad person. I just personally think it is stupid to sit in a thread spamming F5 in hopes of getting a free game. As far as the stuff about F5 spamming with ill intent in mind... how could I prove that anyways? Thats just it... it is in there mind. I don't even see how you could have ill intent in doing such... you are trying to get a free game not trying to find the perfect way to achieve world domination. I only took serious offense with the thread about thewishingwell as it comes off as dude was saying that thewishingwell was wrong for not posting free codes anymore & then when he was called out on it tried to backtread to cover it up (& I may be wrong about it... I dunno... all I'm saying is that I calls 'em as I sees 'em). The other times it was lighthearted ribbing by posting a fake code in a thread where multiple people were begging for a free game (something that I have only done twice that I know of) & he happened to be one of the the first or second person to post about it both times. Its not about winning or losing.... it is about stating how I feel on the subject.

You are inferring that lugum was a bad person by your words. And you possibly can't prove ill intent by those spamming F5 to get games, like in lugum's case, which is why inferring that lugum is doing such for such reasons is a crass thing to do. But continue to play the innocent one in this.

Also the rep comments were unneeded and imo you only brought them up to troll so I am ignoring them.(I did confuse them as being towards lugum at first, which was my mistake.....I should've caught on quicker.) Feel free to bring them up again but imo they don't belong in this discussion of game giveaway scamming.

Going back on topic.

I think that to the F5'vers, entering these contests to swipe the codes is a game onto itself. Even if they don't win, they still get the pleasure of being the ones to get it. Sort of like those crazy black Friday shoppers, only the F5'vers don't have to resort to physical violence.

I do agree that while these people are annoying, this is the consequence of having such an open competition. Unfortunately, as a result F5'ving as well is the only way to win :(

This is why I don't even bother with those kind of competitions. Now the post within x amount of time and get a chance to win, I'll probably enter if I'm online at the time.

Just so I understand: the company is giving away something for free and people are bitching about it?

Oh, and suppose someone really does sit around, jerkin' the gherkin, pressing F5 to get in on the next grab, and manages to snag a title or two. If someone else wins and you don't, you are out what, exactly? You came into the giveaway with nothing, and left with nothing. At worst, you broke even and STILL will have an opportunity to buy just about anything in the catalog at half off, starting next week.

I don't understand the whining either, HereForTheBeer. I think that the people who whine about this need to get out the dictionary and look up the word "chance" because that is all you have when you enter a contest.

The fact that people still can't wrap their heads around the difference between "whining" and "raising legitimate concerns and complaints" boggles my damn mind.
