Navagon: The problem goes beyond that. The over-generosity of the community is causing this entitlement culture to form just as much, if not more, than GOG's own generosity.

Thiev: It happened before, the contest-makers got fed up with it and paused for a while. After some time things got (relatively) back to normal and contests returned. It's a pattern I guess.

A month after Xmas promo and maybe things calm down again.
Yep, I remember that too.
We need a new meme picture.....the Gog vultures coming to get our games! 0.o
i kind of agree with the OP.

what i found particularly odd were all the first-time posters without avatars that tried to participate in the code giveaways here (not on Facebook or Twitter, i don't visit those). i'm willing to bet that many of those were duplicate accounts of vultures trying to get a code or possibly several codes for themselves. i hope the GoG staff took precautions (for example, IP checks) to avoid abuse of the system.
And i'm thinking, that people who posted there for the first time, never went on forums here before. They just happened to see news on the frontpage, and saw "FREE GAME IF YOU POST!" so they did. Simple as that.

certainly. and such a giveaway brings in a lot of new folks, which is of course the point of it all.

but still, how do you tell if a certain account is not a duplicate? i hope GoG makes sure such abuse isn't possible.

They don't......I had several alts long ago(not for bad purposes btw...long story). I dropped them since but gog staff doesn't check IPs to find alts, they just ban alts if people outright out them on the board.

Of course thats not possible (at least for a mere user). But i didn't see that kind of posters usually on the forum random giveaways, i still stand by my opinion.
It's expected that some people will abuse that kind of giveaways, but i don't think thats the case here (at least not as MUCH as people think). I can be mistaken though :).
