A game with eight legs to stand on!

Octodad: Dadliest Catch, a heart-touching story of a Nautical-American struggling to be the best parent and husband dry land has ever seen while keeping his true nature from his loved ones, is available 20% off on GOG.com. That's only $11.99 for the first week.

Octodad: Dadliest Catch is about destruction, deception, and fatherhood. The player controls Octodad, a dapper octopus masquerading as a human, as he goes about daily life. Octodad's existence is a constant struggle, as he must master mundane tasks with his unwieldy boneless tentacles while simultaneously keeping his cephalopodan nature a secret from his human family. In this original, imaginative indie title, you'll be challenged to live through a full day in Octodad's life, and even venture outside the house. There's tons of physics toys to play with. Jointed objects, springs, slippery surfaces, and more! Combine that with visual style inspired by the American 1950's aesthetic (but with futuristic twists), and what you get is an appealing bundle of slapstick fun you will never forget.

Wrap oll of your available arms around Octodad: Dadliest Catch on GOG.com, for only $11.99. The 20% off release discount offer lasts until Thursday, February 6, at 5:59PM GMT.

amok: And for those who think this is important - Humble sell it now for the same price (-20% and in $), it is DRM free, but they also have a native Linux version.

So you have the choice. On one hand you get the game DRM free + Linux + Steam key, on the other you get the game DRM free + avatars.... I know which one I am going to get. (and the dev get 75% instead of 70%)

Out of curiosity: Does Valve get any money when I buy from the Humble Store?

saluk: Oh, you were wondering HOW they got to BE 100% human, I see.
Simple. The kids aren't his. If anyone had reason to suspect their spouse is cheating on them, Octodad is the one.
Too bad he can't voice his suspicions without revealing his true nature. Poor Octodad...

No. Steam keys are provided to the developers free of charge.

I agree with the first bit, but replace wishlisted with dont touch with a barge pole.

not a single cent. It is split like this 75% to dev, 10% to charity, 15% to Humble.

edit: whups, I lost a 1 there

Thanks for the info JMich and amok!
A bit too expensive for an impulse purchase right now, but I'll make sure to buy a copy, sooner or later, simply due to the unique concept and the hilarious trailer.

One thing though: Only avatars as bonus content? What's up with that? Surely it's not a whole lot of extra effort to add some design sketches and wallpapers, at least? Maybe some soundtrack samples? This seems to be a common "problem", too -- what's up, Indie developers?

Probably the funniest four words I'll read all week. +1 for the giggles.

Indeed. Especially Linux versions need to be added asap.
Interesting game, but I think I'm gonna have to wait for a sale

Actually it is on sale right now :)

Fenixp: As much as I value freedom of speech... Advertizing another retailer in a release thread, even if he does offer a better deal, is not all that cool you know.

Heck, I gladly pay more simply to support gog and their principles. Humble has a good thing going but, I only partake when a game will never be on gog, ever and when I can get the game DRM-free without having to go through steam at all. So far that's been two games :P
Seems very odd, yet oddly interesting, will have to try out the demo/free previous game to see if I pick this one up. Will also look forward to seeing some reviews once others have given it a try.

amok: ...and the dev get 75% instead of 70%...
I have a lot of sympathy for devs and I guess the numbers are probably true, but 5% difference now isn't that much of a difference, For me it's not a game changer. GOG earned my trust and they provide value. I don't know how good the support of Humble Store is.

Now those who have Linux, they cannot use GOG and that's why I gave +1 to your original post, because it's relevant. A pity that GOG doesn't offer Linux versions.

Anyway, is it more of an adventure or more a physical puzzle solver`? How much story is there and how difficult and diverse are the puzzles? Do the puzzle require more logical thinking or rather quick reflexes?

Amok.while I appreciate your general contributions Fenixp is right, this is a GOG release thread for Pete's sake. Have some respect. NOT a chance to advertise Humble. Have some decency.
And you do it on a regular basis. Do you work for them or something?

hmm... maybe I should have started a dedicated thread instead? is that what you mean? or are you disputing what I said?

edit - or to put it in another way. It is great that this game is here. Original games like this deserves as much exposure as possible, and it is great that gog are selling it. However, I will not be buying it here, as other stores offer me the exact same product under better terms... and it is a shame. Better?
