A game as ancient as feudal Japan itself.

Sword of the Samurai, a 1980s classic mix of strategy and action, where you set out to conquer the feudal Japan, is available for Windows and Mac OS X on GOG.com, for only $5.99.

In Sword of the Samurai, you will be part of the culture of feudal Japan, and you must learn to live by its rules. To succeed as a samurai, you must think like the samurai. Learn when to leave your sword in its sheath, when to draw it - and what to do with it once it’s drawn. You will fight duels, lead troops on the battlefield, and defend your family against assassins and kidnappers. If you are courageous and honorable, you may advance to become the head of your clan, and warlord of your province. If you master diplomacy and generalship, and outmaneuver your rivals, you may even become Shogun - absolute ruler of Japan. But remember that in all cultures power corrupts - and those who seek absolute power don’t always play by the rules.

There's always room for another MicroProse classic in your collection, so why don't you treat yourself to a nice digital copy of Sword of the Samurai, for only $5.99 on GOG.com!
Now Licurg happy! :p

I think that some of the classics are just too expensive on gog. This is a great example in my opinion. 2 dollars (without promo) as a price would be sufficient.

As a Japanese, I must INSTABUY!! :)
Seems interesting but not quite my thing. Will pass. Maybe a bit overpriced. Probably interesting for cross genre players.

Was this one (like Civ) based on a board game? Seems board gamey...

Perhaps are we paying for the game AND also for the work of making it compatible with modern computers. ... Or not?

There was a board game with this title....I hope it is based on it... I think I will be adding this one (just need to get a review or two from someone who's played it)
I'd quite like it if some of the art from the gamecard was made into wallpapers. It's too pretty not to.

Seems like a great game for people who love the classics. Too old for me though. I was 2 years old when it got released. But nice to have a new old release.

Say hello to GOG, where value of the game isn't defined by graphics but content, compatibility with modern systems and gameplay, also oldschool/retro factor...
I wonder if Licurg will be as happy as he was when Carmageddon 2 was released.
