How many of you are playing through The Witcher a second time in anticipation for the next game? I've noticed two things that stand out now:
1. The fighting, mechanics and story are still awesome
2. Almost everything else feels extremely dated, especially for a 4-year-old game.
I will be playing a game I once saw played for a few minutes when it comes out on May 10th. That counts, right?

What's that everything else besides fighting, mechanics and story ?

graphics maybe? The interface?

I haven't played TW since last summer, but I seem to remember it still being quite good and not overly deficient in any way. I think I remember Geralt's hair being obnoxious looking, but that being the only annoying graphical thing.
I've been meaning to replay through it for like the last month in anticipation... Although personally I don't think it feels dated but then maybe I will once I start playing it again. I doubt it somewhat though, I just tend to enjoy games for what they are. If I didn't I'd probably not want to play all these good old games & I'd not be signed up here!
I'm playing through it again. On chapter 4. It's actually my first time playing this far on the enhanced edition.

The dialog is still stunted, I hope that is fixed in TW2. Other than that though I still think it's a great game and not really dated.
I'm playing it for the first time. I love that it has an adult storyline, but I'm still not sure if I like the game yet or not. :P
I really hope they have enhanced the combat especially and the world is much more interesting to explore because it just isn't there in The Witcher. Also that they show you how your decision in the last chapter impacts the storyline now should not be here. I thought this is an RPG that is based on making decisions that impacts the world. I hope they have changed this in TW2. Despite that TW is a decent game. They have done a lot of things just good, not like in Oblivion which was pure abyss for me. Oblivion was the worst RPG i have ever played in 20 years of pc gaming no joke....
Enviroment graphics are still looks good but NPC models are really ugly. Especially innkeepers and drunk people. :)

Yeah, specifically the wealth of repeated models and their animation. Important characters like Declan Luuvarden share the same model as regular townsfolk.
I finished the game yesterday, the only thing that to me feels deficient is a bit of lack of NPC models, EE made it better but not enough. But since there is so many characters it is not surprising that some have same models.

One other thing to nitpick is how dialogues are constructed, sometimes NPC will stop the dialogue while there are still unexplored options, so you have to click on them again. A bit annoying, but that's all. Other than these two nitpicks it is an amazing game.

I made some screenshots because it stil looks so beautiful (one of them might be a bit spoilerific, so proceed with caution):

good screenshots hmm its one of the reasons to purchase the game on steam
I really enjoyed Witcher EE . . . after I got used to the combat. I'm playing a few levels over in anticipation of the W2. My only two complaints are -

In the swamp - if I can't go to a visible location - don't let me see it. I could plainly see where I wanted to go but had to go way, WAY around to get there instead of the short walk straight to the spot.

My Lady loves RPG's but does not enjoy playing as a male character - add a female Witcher character so our women can play as women.

Other than those two items - I found the graphics, story, NPC's, combat etc. more than acceptable but . . . I'm more about how much fun a game is rather than how it looks . . . =)

Actually it isn't, I have nonsteam retail dvd version of EE. You can put any game into steam via clicking on games - add a nonsteam game to my library. I use steam as a universal game launcher of all my games, steam ones and nonsteam ones. That way I get the benefits like ingame overlay, friends, ingame web browser, screenshots... with all my games.

Stuff - add female Witcher character ? I hope you are not serious. With one semi-exception (in the books) there are no female witcherettes. And it would be goddamn stupid anyway.
