Congratulations on reaching the four star milestone and thank you for the giveaway, +1.
1) I'll always remember one character that I used in my playthrough of Baldur's Gate 1. But before I talk about him I need to explain the circumstances. My playthrough was interrupted by a friend of mine when he told me, not only that there was an expansion for the game but also a sequel that allowed you to import characters from the first game. This just blew my mind, having played only Fallout 1 & 2 prior, because this was the first game I had heard to do this. After searching for guides detailing the changes made by the sequel, I had to create a short story that would explain why certain characters from my original party went missing in the sequel, and why a specific character changed his class entirely. At the time I couldn't find much information about the expansion other than, that it was about Durlag’s Tower.
He was named Eth'el'ton and he was a Fighter and childhood friend of the Bhaalspawn. While traveling, he found Branwen, a female Cleric, and released her from the terrible spell that had turned her to stone. Grateful for being freed she joined the Bhaalspawn's party and eventually she grew close to Eth'el'ton. In their many adventures the party aquired great artifacts, but of note was the Ring of Holiness, a powerful ring that greatly improved the casting power of clerics. Nearing the end of their travels together the adventurers took upon themselves a final risky undertaking. To explore the mysterious Durlag’s Tower. The adventurers' endurance was put to the test from the very entrance of the tower when Coran failed to disarm an ice trap and they were all afflicted with frostbite. A bad omen for any enterprise, let alone one as dangerous as the one they had embarked on. However they were determined to see it though and now their battle awareness was piqued. So they continued. With each new level of the tower the traps became more dangerous and the evils contained in those halls, more ancient.
Finally they reached the top, the last room. The air seemed heavier and requiring effort to inhale. A shifting mist clouded the floor. Eth'el'ton opened his mouth and said something but no sound came out. Before he could realise that, his attention was drawn towards Coran who had notched an arrow and released it. However the targeted Lich was too fast and, without moving, he unleashed a fireball that incinerated both the flying arrow and Coran. The second spell took more time to cast but it generated a blue flash that finally awakened the remaining party members from their bewilderment. Edwin immediately ran away leaving behind his companions. The Bhaalspawn tactical mind recognized the danger they had walked upon and decided they should retreat. As he turned to push Imoen out of the room the Lich had already finished summoning Doom Guards. Eth'el'ton reached to his side grabbed Branwen's hand and started to run. When his arm fully extended he stumbled back and his confused mind realized how cold the hand he held felt. He turned his eyes and saw Branwen completely frozen as the air surrounding her cooled by the perfect statue descended and joined the shifting mist. One of the Doom Guards approached and used his might mace to smash the statue and knock Eth'el'ton near the door. The second blow would have ended him but the Bhaalspawn was near and deflected the hit using his shield. Then used his shoulder to shove the Doom Guard back allowing himself enough time to grab Eth'el'ton and together they made their escape. It wasn't until they had exited the tower that Eth'el'ton noticed he was still holding something cold. The realization that it was Branwen hand hadn't dawned upon him until he noticed the Ring of Holiness and that was enough to drive him insane.
It would take a entire year for him to come to peace with what had happened. To finally accept the loss and move on by choosing to serve the God that Branwen had served. However that year did not pass without leaving behind a terrible scar that would mark Eth'el'ton for the rest of his life. A horrible rage that darkened his mind, that could not be contained, but ultimately he would learn that it could be directed.
TL;DR: I wanted to import my party from Baldur's Gate to the sequel. But Branwen(Cleric) and Coran(Thief) don't appear in that game so I changed the class of my Fighter to Berserker/Cleric while also importing an item I did not want to lose.
2) PLEASE DO NOT READ any further if you are easily offended and just ignore this part of the post. I am not Jewish but the joke is so dementedly absurd that I just found it hilarious.
JOKE: What is the difference between a Jew and a potato? The potato does not scratch the oven while it's baking.
