Parvateshwar: I might start back up when MoP comes out but I don't see it adding too much to the story, which is the only reason I got into WoW in the first place. It seems more like a gimmick to attract a bigger slice of the Asian market or maybe the Panderan will appeal more to casual gamers. It's far past the time for Blizzard to move on, in my opinion, but they seem to be doing that and WoW at the same time.

Elenarie: Watching BlizzCon, Chris said that they were going to add the Pandaren folks in TBC, but they scrapped that and replaced them with the Draenei.
Yeah, I remember them from Warcraft 3 lore as well, so they aren't a new addition. I can't say much about them before that as I didn't read too extensively in the first two Warcrafts, they were a bit before my time. I would be interested if it does work in attracting new users, their membership has been stagnating as of late and if they can boost it above the 15 mil mark they might last a few years more, or at least until a competitor comes out (please GW2, don't disappoint me).

There were no pandaren, night elves, draenei, tauren or scourge in the first two Warcraft games, and the first game were just Orcs and Humans (as the title suggested). The second game replaced Orc spearmen and Human crossbowmen (labelled archers) with Troll axethrowers and Elven bowmen (also labelled archers), and added goblins, gnomes, ogres, and dwarves as a couple units per team.

Unless I remember wrongly, Pandaren were originally meant to be an easter egg, or a joke, but it was well received in the team so they fleshed it out a bit more. Then the players started wondering about them, so they were eventually officially incorporated into the lore (with the development of Mists of Pandaria).

neither was there really any dragons. There was some strange green dragons and dragonriders used by the horde in Tides of Darkness (IIRC), but all the aspects -dragonflights- first sentient spices malarkey was added later because of the books. Warcraft have a very flexible Lore...

Flexible indeed. I believe Deathwing was mentioned by both name and colour in the second game though.

Thank you for a new word, by the way. I'm quite sure this was the first time I stumbled upon "malarkey" (and because of that, I wasn't quite sure if you meant some to me unknown meaning of "spices" or misspelled "species"), I'll have to use that one a few times to remember it.

I never could get into Wow. I mean the game lore(of what I read or heard about) seems ok, but the graphics...gah. I'm not talking about the LEVEL of graphics btw, but the style. Imo it looks much too cartoony and childish.

If the game looked anything like the trailers in terms of style it'd be awesome, but it doesn't(sadly).

My experience----Played Wow since about 6 months before BC came out, bought every exspansion, had tremendous fun with it up until about 3 months after Cata came out. Then...it all stopped. I just logged in one day and said to myself, Why? I unsubbed with 3 85's and 7 80's. one of each class, yada, yada. Tried to get back into it after a 3 month hiatus and even the old Guild i was in just seemed different..played for about a month and quit again.....

Been WoW free for about a year now.

Do i miss it? sometimes, i mostly miss the friends i've made on it but i stay in touch with them on Facebook or other games
