Game's receiving positive feedback from almost all sources and reviews. RPS seems negative but I can't be bothered to take their opinion seriously, they seem to have a problem with Obsidian like they did with Fallout NV before, kinda stopped reading at simple combat when almost everyone else praised the combat.

My game's not unlocked yet yesterday. Hope it's unlocked today. Steam hasn't provided a date for when it will be unlocked, just that my game's preloaded.

I had South Park Pre Loaded and it was ready to play 21 hours ago so I am not sure why yours isn't unlocked yet. Also the game is actually really good, I'm enjoying it very much. It has all the humor from the show. If you don't like the show you are probably not going to like the game.

I tried to play yesterday and steam keeps telling me I can't because it's not released yet. Gonna try again today and see what happens.
I was thinking of pre-ordering it, but the region restrictions convinced me otherwise (I pay the same amount as the US release but get a region locked version, fuck that). I'll wait for the inevitable 75% off sale.
I'm not sure what RPS or Kotaku are talking about in regards to bugs. I have several hours in and haven't experienced any yet, which is surprising for an Obsidian game.

Basically, it's like this: it's a solid worker's RPG at its roots, with a crap ton of in jokes based on RPGs from 8 bit on, lots of tropes based on that, on top of a bunch of interwoven nods to previous South Park episodes AND original content.

Mechanically, they take bits and pieces from a bunch of different games, like Zelda, they want you to explore EVERYTHING, smacking things to give up loot, find new keys to unlock new houses and areas to explore and loot for more new content. They have a fast travel system built in, quests aplenty, you name it. It's not strictly a fan service game, imo, but I think you'll get so much more out of it if you HAVE watched the show.

That said, if you're a fan of old school RPGs anyway? Get it. Doesn't matter if you wait for a sale or not, it's worth picking up.

Oh! There's also a bunch of collectibles, outfits, all the characters and all the locations in the town are explorable.

Yeah, exactly, even TB didn't find any bugs 6 hours in and said those graphical and control options were game design flaws.

Can't wait to try the game tonight.
Yeah, I think the only real flaws is the fact that it's a hardcore RPG, with minimal explanation, even the tutorials in the beginning could be a little confusing for people new to it.
This is bull! It's still locked for us for some crappy reason. Release date says March 2014, no date at all when it's going to be unlocked.

EDIT: Just checked forums:

I was wary about buying this game even with GMG's 25% off deal. But i'm glad I did, I put 4 hours straight into it last night and it's great. It's funny (if you're a fan of the show), combat is fun in that Mario RPG kind of way, the pacing is good, seems to be quite a bit of exploration and side quests. I haven't encountered any bugs, in my opinion it's Obsidian's most polished product to date.

Ya, I put 6 hours into it now and I think the game is brilliantly done. South Park is my all time favorite TV show of all shows and the way they did everything in this game is spot on.

The Legend of the seven starts/Paper Mario mechanic in battle makes combat more involved instead of the traditional jrpg/dragon quest style of just selecting attack and enemy. There is more than enough exploration and hidden collectables to gather. The humor is spot on with the show and there are so many references to the show.

I didn't want to get my hopes up for the game, I will admit that in the back of my mind I was like, the game is probably going to suck. I am glad I was wrong. What surprises me is that even if you have never seen the show, (sure you might not get the references) the game is still awesome. If there was no show and everything in the game was made up just for the game, It would still be enjoyable and worth picking up. You don't need to see the show to enjoy this.

The only thing I have noticed that bugged me, and they can easily patch, is sometimes when I attack with butters hammer it will say press x when you see the flash and then there is no flash at all.

I got it 20% off and I am glad I did. If you can get it at 25% off go for it. You will enjoy the game too.

I also have not encountered any bugs (just a very minor graphical glitch for 2 seconds, which resloved when the scene I was in was over).

I agree that this is Obsidians most polished product.

I'm close to beating it now, just missed some darn items (open map and switch to treasure view, I missed like 3 things, even going and searching those 3 places for over an hour, still can't find the chests).

I hope this game gets more content. I'm still waiting for a snooke appearence.

The game does have some battle balancing issues (ie, too much damage output by enemies).
(also the fart training videos, and one mini-game (not going to spoil mini-game by saying its name) need better explaination)

Overall, I'm very pleassed with this game, much more then my Aarklash Legacy purchase.

Yeah, as hilarious as listening to Cartman belittle you during "magic" training is, the explanation and graphical indicators were not intuitive at all.
