MonstaMunch: There's nowhere to buy retail games here, and I was too young/broke to buy them before I came here 10 years ago. I'm pretty new to the world of being able to buy games legally, it only happened after I stumbled across GOG a couple of months ago. There's a fairly ironic story behind how that happened, but I'll save it for another day ;)

Retailers don't want you to give them money

Yet you keep trying.
I know right.

Here's where the story of how I discovered GOG becomes relevant: I used to think that given all the limitations in place, especially the fact that I couldn't buy any of these games legally even when I wanted to, that it was OK to just go to the local markets and get my games for 5000 riel (just over a dollar) each. I figured it wasn't harming their sales as they wouldn't sell it to me anyway, and that when they would sell them to me, I'd buy them again in legal form.

Cut to September this year, and I'm installing my 5000 riel copy of Witcher 2 that I got at the local market. When it was installing , I noticed the GOG logo on the installer. I'd already tried buying EA, Bioware, THQ, et al to no avail, but as I hadn't heard of GOG before, I thought I'd look them up just in case.

Low and behold, I found that not only could I buy a legal version of Witcher 2, but they also had dozens of games that I remember fondly from my childhood. I ended up buying Witcher 2 legally, as well as about 50 other gogs (so far), and have become a loyal customer, all because I saw the GOG logo on my cracked $1 copy of Witcher 2.

Since then I've gone out of my way to find legal ways to buy games, but I'm really starting to think it's more hassle than it's worth. Everything I've got from GOG has been perfect, but sadly the same can't be said for GG at the moment, even if it isn't entirely their fault.

He's either a glutton for punishment, or a true gamer hero. :)
